Augsburg Students in Solidarity w/ Jamar Clark/Mizz

Where: Christensen Center
When: Thursday, Nov. 19th
Time: 9pm-8am

In light of recent events, Students for Racial Justice (SRJ) is disappointed with the inaction Augsburg College has taken. Additionally, we are disturbed with the prejudice and problematic comments and conversations we have been encountering across this campus. Thus, we are deciding to take action to raise awareness and show our solidarity with marginalized peoples not only in Minneapolis, but around the world.

If we claim to be informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders, we must hold ourselves and the institution of Augsburg College accountable for our actions and inaction. We demand that Augsburg College issue a public statement in support of Jamar Clark and his family as well as the actions of the students of Mizzou. Let us come together in solidarity to live up to our mission statement.

Join us in solidarity this Thursday night as we occupy and sleep in Christensen Center (starting at 9 pm). This is not a protest against Augsburg College. Instead, it is an opportunity for students to come together to initiate dialogue and raise awareness about the underlying system of racism that is affecting our student body, institution, and society.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Keisha Barnard at barnardk@augsburg.edu.
For accessibility inquiries, please contact Maricio Mata-Thelen at matathel@augsburg.edu.
