Public Safety and Facilities Announcements
Crime Alert: Burglary in Old Main
April 11, 2012: Burglary
Public Safety was notified this morning of unauthorized entry into a locked area in Old Main. Staff in the office believes a burglary happened between 3 pm yesterday and 7 am this morning. It appears the offender(s) gained entry into the suite through an open window. They then forced entry into individual offices and rummaged through desk drawers. At this time, it appears that power chords were taken. If you have any information about this crime, please report to Public Safety Dispatch 612-330-1717 or Minneapolis Police 911.
You Can Help Prevent Crime at Augsburg!
Immediately report any suspicious activity to the Minneapolis Police or Augsburg DPS.
Always lock office windows, individual office doors and the suite door whenever you leave, even if you will only be gone briefly. Most home burglaries take only 3 to 5 minutes, office burglaries can take even less time.
If you misplace or do not have a key, please call x1717 and ask us to come and lock the office. Please wait in the office until we arrive.
Do not prop open doors. If you see a door propped open, close the door and report it to DPS by calling 1717.
Keep valuables out of view. If possible, secure them in a locking drawer or cabinet. Better yet, take your valuables with you or leave them at home.
Keep your keys on your person at all times.
Back up your data. Your files can easily be backed up to your network folder or a USB drive. Don't risk losing your notes, research and other work. If you have any questions about the best way to back up your data, talk to your LFC or to Student Computing.

Missed the Talk on Forgiveness? Buy book for $10
Due to an overstock, my department has 5 extra books, Forgive For Good: A Proven Prescription for Health and Happiness by the convocation speaker, Dr. Fred Luskin. We are selling them for $10 each just to cover costs. Retail is usually $14.99.
I highly recommend this book for readers who want a change in perspective about something that has been bothering them. This book provides a practical, step-by-step description of how to be happier and healthier through the practice of forgiveness. Dr. Luskin says, "Forgiveness does not necessarily mean reconciliation with the person that hurt you, or condoning of their action. What you are after is to find peace." "Forgiveness has been shown to reduce anger, hurt, depression and stress and leads to greater feelings of hope, peace, compassion and self confidence."

If you want to buy a book for $10, contact me at x1462 or youngs@augsburg.edu.
