Faculty, please visit http://inside.augsburg.edu/ctl/grant-applications/ to access the call for proposals and applications for the Provost's Internationalization Travel Grants and the Summer Scholarship Grants. Applications for both grants are due by February 9th.

CTL Scholarly Writing Discussion - TODAY

Faculty, join your colleagues for a discussion on how to manage scholarly writing with a heavy teaching load. In preparation for the discussion, please read the two brief articles that are linked on the CTL events page http://inside.augsburg.edu/ctl/upcoming-events/. Come for the coffee (and tea), stay for the ideas and community.

This event will coincide with the announcement of dedicated space on campus for faculty and staff to focus on writing.

Interfaith Scholars participate in a yearlong academic seminar (407/408) led by Professor Matt Maruggi and Pastor Sonja Hagander, earn four upper division semester credits in the Religion Department, and receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Wednesday 2/4/15

Nabo is open from 7:30am-8:00pm. The Special of the Day is a Grilled Turkey and Cheese.

Einsteins is open from 7:30am-9:00pm with the Late Night Menu starting at 7:00pm.

The Commons is open from 7:30am-7:00pm. Market Place is serving Roast Beef & Au Jus, Grilled Quinoa Cakes, Braised Carrots with Thyme, and Boiled Baby Reds with Basil. Vege is serving Boiled Dill Potatoes, Wild Rice Pilaf, Mushroom Bourguignon, and Herbed Peas & Carrots.

Event Announcements

Free Community Meal at Bethany

Bethany will be serving delicious homemade soup and bread that is vegetarian and halal! We will be open Monday through Friday at 11:00 until 1:00. Everyone is invited-no exceptions! This is not a soup kitchen, but rather a space to build community! The address is 2511 E. Franklin Ave. and it is located in the building with rainbow pillars.

Volunteers Needed for Bill Nye "The Science Guy"

Scholarship Weekend is right around the corner and we're looking for members of the campus community that would be interested in volunteering during the event being hosted that will feature Bill Nye "The Science Guy." As you can imagine, it takes a lot of people to make sure that the nearly 2,000 guests and our prospective students have a seamless, enjoyable experience. The event will take place:

Batalden Seminar in Applied Ethics

The Batalden Seminar in Applied Ethics is Tuesday, February 10th, 11:00-12:00 in the Hoversten Chapel. The convocation address, entitled, "The Sociology of Seerah: Reclaiming Prophetic Tradition For Our Time and Place" will be delivered by Dr. Rami Nashashibi, Executive Director of the Inner-City Action Network (IMAN) and visiting professor at the Chicago Theological Seminary.

This timely presentation will focus on Muslim American identity and social justice issues by applying lessons from the life of the prophet Mohammed to our time and place. For more information, contact Matt Maruggi at maruggi@augsburg.edu.

Keeping Track of Auggies

CGEE's Ann Lutterman Aguilar Presenting at ISU

CGEE Academic Director and Mexico Site Director, Dr. Ann Lutterman-Aguilar, has been invited to present at Illinois State University's International Studies Symposium Series. Ann will be presenting on Study Abroad and Global Citizenship. Because of her expertise and contributions to the field in this area, Ann's travel has been funded by ISU.
