Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Outgoing Calls - Reminder

Friendly reminder for all faculty and staff: Outgoing calls from any extension on-campus show up in caller ID as x1000, the switchboard. There have been a lot of confused callers trying to return a missed call, but we don't have a record of outgoing calls to be able to transfer.

If you call someone from your campus extension, make sure to leave a message with your first AND last name and your direct line, so we can help these callers find their homes more effectively.

Event Announcements

Discussion of Documentary Dakota 38

Showing and discussion of documentary Dakota 38 at Church of All Nations

When: Thursday, July 17, 7 p.m.
Where: Church of All Nations, 4301 Benjamin St. NE, Columbia Heights

Come and see a showing of the award-winning film Dakota 38 and support ongoing work towards reconciliation and healing. The film documents a 330-mile winter horse ride across South Dakota and Minnesota which grew out of a dream by Lakota spiritual leader Jim Miller. The ride ends in Mankato on December 26, the anniversary of the hanging of 38 Dakota warriors following the Dakota-U.S. War of 1862. The film discusses the ride, the healing it brought, and the people the riders met along the way. Both Miller and his wife Alberta Iron Cloud will attend the event.

The showing is free, but there will be a free will offering to support Miller's efforts to hold a Sun Dance, a traditional and sacred spiritual practice for Lakota, Dakota and other Native peoples. This is part of Miller's ongoing work to bring healing to his people.

Cloth Diapers for Sale

Thinking of cloth diapering but don't want to spend a lot of money just to try them out?

I am selling two different types of cloth diapers that we are finished with.

1. A set of two GroVia hybrid diapers, adjustable to fit newborns up to toddlers. Two shells, each with a snap in "soaker" pad and an additional "booster" pad. These are in excellent used condition. $20 for both.

2. A set of eight gDiapers in size Medium. Eight cloth covers ("gPants") in solid cream or solid orange, 8 snap-in PUL inner liners, and 12 cloth pads. These have seen a lot of washing, so the colors are faded, but there are no rips or stains. $45 for the full set, or $25 for 4 pants/6 pads. NOTE that the gDiaper company no longer makes the cloth pads - now they only sell the disposable pads.

If you aren't familiar with cloth diapers, I'm happy to explain how these two types are put together. Prices are negotiable. Contact Erin Voss at voss@augsburg.edu or x1138 if interested.
