Shredding Service Coming - Clean Your Files
It is time to go through your office files and office storerooms and purge confidential documents according to your retention rules. We will bring a document destruction service to campus in a couple of weeks. Place a facilities work request by Oct. 11, to request pick up of your confidential documents for shredding. If you have questions about what is confidential, please contact your manager. Sorry, we cannot accommodate personal shredding.

Missed Getting Your Flu Shot on Campus?
Are you a student, faculty or staff member still looking for an annual flu shot? Here is a link to a list of several nearby locations where you still can get your annual flu shot. http://vaccine.healthmap.org/?address=55454
In addition, the Walk-in Clinic at 327 Cedar also has vaccine available for $31.99 or most insurances are accepted there as well. Smiley's Clinic also has flu shots available but you need to make an appointment to get the shot by calling 612-333-0770. Finally the Cedar People's Clinic on the corner of Riverside and 20th will have vaccine available by the end of the week.

Gently Used Rugs/Lamps Needed for Event
Art Club is hosting a Give and Take Meet and Greet next week and is looking for some household goods to decorate the basement of Old Main. They need a few used throw rugs (2) and household lamps to be used as decoration and need not be functional. If anyone is would be willing to donate for a night, please contact Susan Boecher, Art Department.

Active Wellness 2014 Information Sessions
The response to the announcement of our new wellness program, Active Wellness 2014, has been great. In fact, many of you have already registered for your health evaluations. The deadline for scheduling an evaluation is October 16th and deadline for completing the health evaluation is November 11. If you have not done so, there is still time, go to the HR Moodle site in the Active Wellness 2014 section for information on how to register.

Remember, this program is offered at no cost to you, and we are offering a financial incentive for participation. Employees on our health plan can earn a discount of $25 per month (up to $300 per year) on their health insurance premiums for participation in the Active Wellness 2014 program.
Do you want to learn more, or have questions? If so, informational brown bag sessions will be held next week in the East Commons of Christensen Center.
Representatives from Interactive Wellness will be on campus to provide more information about the Active Wellness 2014 program. They will give a brief presentation followed by an opportunity for you to ask them questions about the program.

Mohamed Sallam receives McKnight Fellowship
Mohamed Sallam, Director of the Pan-Afrikan Center, received a McKnight Foundation Fellowship to attend the upcoming Salzburg Global Seminar on the role of diversity and inclusion in the democratic transitions of the Middle East and North Africa. Mohamed received one of only two fellowships offered by the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. The seminar will be held in Salzburg, Austri,a from November 1-6. Please help us congratulate Mohamed.

Exploring Your Leadership Style: Oct. 10 workshop

Who should attend? Individuals and/or teams who want to enhance their leadership skills and effectiveness.
Discover your information processing preferences through I Opt. I Opt is a leadership assessment tool used in professional development that will help you understand how you gather, process and act on the information that is all around you. This information shapes the way you approach leadership. To effectively lead others, it's helpful to understand the strengths and vulnerabilities of your own approach.
Prior to the workshop, participants will complete a short online survey (fewer than ten minutes). The results of this survey will be used to generate a personalized report that each participant will receive at the workshop. These Advanced Leadership Reports identify information processing preferences, providing insights into issues that people bring with them everywhere they go. Tom Morgan, a certified I Opt interpreter, will explain the I Opt model and help you get the most out of your individual report.
Registration
To participate in the workshop, please RSVP by e-mail to Patty Park at parkp@augsburg.edu by Monday, October 7. You will receive an e-mail reply with directions for taking the I Opt survey. You must be present at the workshop to receive the survey results. Space is limited, so register soon.
The I Opt survey and report has a value of $25, but we are able to offer it for $10 per participant in combination with the workshop. Your $10 payment will be collected at the beginning of the event.

Trip To Mille Lacs
On October 12, enjoy a joint trip with St. Thomas students to the Mille Lacs Community and the Mille Lacs Indian Museum on the shores of beautiful Lake Mille Lacs. Learn more about one of our neighboring Ojibwe Anishinabe communities, their history, and culture. Our day will include a tour of the community and government center, a visit to the Museum and Trading Post, and a brief stop at the Casino.
Schedule:
9 a.m: Meet at Augsburg in front of Melby Hall (Rec. center)
9:15 a.m.: Leave Minneapolis
Lunch (brownbag) You will need to pack yourself a lunch and snacks for the day. You can also purchase lunch at Subway near Mille Lacs

Seminary and Divinity School Day - Oct. 15
Are you considering the idea of theological graduate school education? Is there a possibility you might want to become a pastor, a professor of religion, or work in a church vocation?
Gather with your peers at Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday, October 15. This all-day event will give you the opportunity to meet with representatives from up to 20 seminaries and divinity schools from around the nation, from multiple denominational affiliations. The day will also feature a keynote address during the luncheon, breakout sessions and discussions about the discernment process, questions of faith, what it's like to be in ministry (ordained, not ordained, specialized), the difference between a seminary and divinity school, and more.
By attending, you will have the chance to visit with students from other regional undergraduate schools who have similar questions and interests.
Transportation to and from Gustavus will be provided. There is no charge for this event (which includes lunch) but you must pre-register by noon Monday, Oct. 7.

Lost Accounting Audit Textbook
Dear Fellow Augsburg Students,
I am one of your fellow Auggies and I am emailing you all regarding my situation. I lost my accounting audit textbook (blue hardcover, title:Principles of auditing and other assurances) in room Foss20A last week on September 25. If anyone of you has picked it up or knows someone who has, I would very much appreciate if you would turn it into DPS security in Urness lobby, or email me at lueyang922@gmail.com There will be a reward of $25 for whoever return it back to me. The reward may not be much but as we know we all cannot afford to purchase another textbook(once is enough already).
