Parking Appeals Committee
Public Safety is seeking 2 faculty, 2 staff, and 2 students to serve on the parking appeals committee. The committee meets every other week for an hour to discuss and make decisions on parking violation appeals.

Confidential Document Shredding
It is time to go through your office files and office storerooms and purge documents according to your retention rules. We will bring a document destruction service to campus in a couple of weeks. Place a facilities work request BY OCTOBER 11, to request pick up of your confidential documents for shredding. Sorry, we cannot accommodate personal shredding.

Employee Training Series: Spaces Still Available
There are sill spaces available for the upcoming employee training;
"Civil Discourse: Strategies for Communicating in a Diverse Workplace."
Don't miss your chance to take part in this development opportunity. This course will provide participants a valuable set of tools as we learn to communicate across our diverse workplace.
The sessions are open to all faculty and staff at no cost, with four opportunities to participate in this course. The sessions will be facilitated by Jeffrey Cookson, Organizational Development Manager and Global Diversity Inclusion Specialist from MRA Trusight.

Differing definitions of respect
Common communication break-downs
Characteristics of tactful and diplomatic communicators
A self-assessment of various communication styles
Tips for adjusting one's own style of communication
A communication Action Plan for use during times of difficult or problematic communication

St. David's Center - On Campus Today
St. David's Center for Child & Family Development will be on campus tabling in the Christensen Center lobby this Wednesday, October 2 from 9:30-1:00 p.m. Stop by to network and have a one-on-one short visit about their internships and part-time jobs. They are seeking Personal Care Assistants to work with clients in the metro area for children, youth and adults with special needs. Build lasting, rewarding relationships as you help cultivate a higher level of independence for individuals with disabilities. Get paid to engage in social activities helping with meal prep, going on daily outings, etc. This is a FUN and FLEXIBLE job!
Spanish Conversation Meets this Thursday
Looking for a chance to improve your Spanish conversation skills? Then we've got just the thing for you - Spanish Conversation group! Please join us as we gather to chat in Spanish, laugh and have a bit of fun. From beginning to advanced, all levels are welcome! We meet every Thursday in the Riverside Room, 2nd floor Christensen, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Signs will be posted. Join us for 10 minutes or for the whole session, whatever works for you. Active Wellness 2014
The response to the announcement of our new wellness program, Active Wellness 2014, has been great. In fact, many of you have already registered for your health evaluations. The deadline for scheduling an evaluation is October 16th and deadline for completing the health evaluation is November 11.If you have not done so, there is still time, go to the HR Moodle site in the Active Wellness 2014 section for information on how to register.

Remember, this program is offered at no cost to you, and we are offering a financial incentive for participation. Employees on our health plan can earn a discount of $25 per month (up to $300 per year) on their health insurance premiums for participation in the Active Wellness 2014 program.
Do you want to learn more, or have questions? If so, informational brown bag sessions will be held next week in the East Commons of Christensen Center.
Representatives from Interactive Wellness will be on campus to provide more information about the Active Wellness 2014 program. They will give a brief presentation followed by an opportunity for you to ask them questions about the program.

Monday Daily Chapel: Blessing of the Animals
Join us at 10:40 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, as we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Animals. Our service will include a lively blessing ritual of animals and pets to honor St. Francis' devotion to all God's creatures. Bring your pet (or picture of your pet) to chapel for this special worship service in Hoversten Chapel, Foss Center.
Oct. 10 and 14: Faculty-led Programs Abroad 14-15
Calling all Augsburg faculty interested in leading a study abroad program next academic year -- Our office is preparing a new (shorter!) proposal form, which will be announced at our upcoming Info Sessions. In addition, our renowned Center for Global Education has launched some new locations in Europe, where they can provide logistical and academic support for your program!

MBA Executive Seminars - Chief Revenue Officer
This fall the MBA program will be hosting the first of a series of MBA Executive Seminars. The "Chief Revenue Officer" seminar is a two-part seminar held on Saturdays, October 26 and November 2, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Oren Gateway Center Room 100. A continental breakfast will be served.
The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is the person accountable for generating revenue to fund the business, deliver a profit and grow the company. Typical aliases for the Chief Revenue Office include CEO, COO, Owner, President, Vice President of Sales, etc.
Instructor Carl Moe will teach you the four core processes all Chief Revenue Officers MUST manage - or be managed by. Learn about the CRO role in B2B revenue models, how to build a 'bankable forecast', how prospects decide, skills for identifying sales talent, sales incentive plans that work, and how to shorten your sales cycle.
Carl Moe's corporate background includes decades of senior executive roles in global, high tech manufacturing industries. He has conducted business in 14 countries outside North America, serves on multiple boards, chairs the C.R.O. Roundtable and holds both engineering and business (MBA) degrees from the University of Michigan.

Women, War and Drones: "An Afghan Woman Speaks Out" will be held at Augsburg

Malalai Joya is a human rights activist and recipient of numerous international awards. She has been called "the bravest woman in Afghanistan." She was suspended by the Afghan Parliament in 2007 for her criticism of the warlord and drug barons.
Co-sponsored by: Department of Political Science, Anne Pederson Women's Resource Center, and the Sabo Center for Citizenship and Learning and many other off-campus groups.

Mary Froiland '79 was elected as the first woman bishop of the South-Central Synod.
