AIS/ENL 355 Themes in American Indian Literature

This spring trimester, American Indian Studies is offering AIS/ENL 355 Themes in American Indian Literature for WEC. This class meets Sundays 1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.

The course is structured around a number of writers working within a particular theme such as Native Voices of Minnesota, Voices from the Southwest, Poetics and Politics of Native Writing, Women and Power in Native Literature, Urban-Reservation: Homing, and American Indian film-literature adaptation. Students focus on primary texts, comparing and contrasting theme, voice, aesthetic, or cultural emphasis as it shifts or arises across the group of texts. Course cross-lists with English.

(Prereq.: ENL 220 or 221, or a 200-level literature course, or consent of instructor.)

Lindell Library Open until 1:00 a.m.

For late-night finals studying, Lindell Library will be open later:
Wednesday-Friday, April 25-27: 1 am
Saturday, April 28: 6:00 pm
Sunday-Wednesday, April 29-May 2: 1 am

Come do some intense research, paper writing, and studying. We'll expect you!

Sprint to the Finish Line: Visit the Writing Lab

The Augsburg College Writing Lab is located in Lindell Library (street level, left of the circulation desk). So far this academic year, tutors in the lab have conducted almost 2000 sessions working with students on their writing assignments and they can help you, too. No appointments are taken; just stop by. Hours are as follows:

Monday: 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. & 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Tuesday: 12:00-2:30 p.m.; 3:00-5:30 p.m. & 7:30-10:00 p.m.

Wednesday: 3:00-5:30 p.m. & 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Thursday: 12:00-2:30 p.m.; 3:00-5:30 p.m. & 7:30-10:00 p.m.

Friday: 4:30-7:00 p.m.

Sunday: 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Alan Tuchtenhagen Continuing as Director

Dr. Alan Tuchtenhagen, currently serving as interim Director of the Center for Leadership Studies and the Master of Arts in Leadership program has agreed to remain in the role as we proceed into the next academic year.

This past year, Alan has been instrumental in creating new opportunities for both the Center and the MAL to explore, and has been a very positive force for these program areas at the College. The College is very excited to have him continue to lead this good work.

Please join in thanking Alan and wishing him well in his second year in this important role.

Bruce Batten to Lead MBA Program 2012-2013

Bruce Batten will be assuming the role of MBA Director for academic year 2012-2013, effective July 1, 2012.

Bruce has been visible and engaged as a champion of Augsburg's MBA program in his current role as Assistant Director and Coordinator of the Management Consulting Project and Mayo Scholars teams. Bruce has also taken on the work of planning and coordinating the business department's ACBSP accreditation application and most recently, has served on the College's Strategic Finance Commission.

While serving as MBA Director, Bruce will play a key role as the department continues its accreditation self study work in anticipation of a site visit in spring 2013, the implementation of the new format for MBA concentrations and consulting project courses, and the next stage of development for the part-time MBA.

The College is pleased that Bruce will be a part of this good work and playing a leadership role in it. Please join in thanking Bruce for taking on this role.
