The Jessica Nathanson Scholarly Writing Retreat

The third annual Scholarly Writing Retreat will be held at Dunrovin Retreat Center near Marine on St. Croix from 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 29 to 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 31. Initiated by Jessica Nathanson, the retreat gives scholars time and space to work on scholarship, undistracted by meetings, classes, or even children and family responsibilities. Some come to plan an approach to a new project to be completed over the summer; others use it as an opportunity to finish articles they have been working on during the year. Those interested in participating should contact Sarah Hedstrom (hedstrom@augsburg.edu). Registrants are accepted on a first come-first serve basis.

Faculty Help Needed: Undergraduate Sneak Peek

Dear Faculty:
I have a late request for help recruiting faculty participation in our upcoming Sneak Peek event that takes place on Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 26 for Undergraduate Admissions.

As you may have heard from Carola or Julie, this event is considered our "home run" event. Only accepted and deposited Augsburg students are invited to attend and it is traditionally a night when several accepted students make their final decision to attend Augsburg and deposit on the spot. On average, we receive approximately 25 deposits between the two nights.

We definitely need to recruit:
--one more Fine Arts faculty member for the 3rd session (5:45-6:05) on Wednesday
--one non-History faculty member for all three sessions (4:55-6:05) on Thursday
--at least one more Social and Behavioral Science Faculty member for all three sessions on Thursday (4:55 -6:05)
--a Natural Science and Mathematics Faculty for the 3rd session on Thursday (5:45 - 6:05)

The requests below are not mandatory but it would be nice to have additional representation in the following areas:
--1 additional Fine Arts faculty member for the 1st and 2nd sessions on Wednesday and the 3rd session Thursday
--1 additional Humanities faculty member for Wednesday
--1 additional Professional Studies faculty member for Wednesday
--1 more Social and Behavioral Science faculty member for all sessions on Wednesday
--1 additional Natural Science and Mathematics for 2nd session on Thursday

Sneak Peek Schedule

4:30 – 6:05 – Faculty and Organizational Reception

Faculty will be organized by AugSem divisions (Natural Science and Mathematics, Fine Arts, Professional Studies, Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences) and will be located in different OGC classrooms. Organizations will have tables in the lobby of OGC.

4:30 – 4:50 – Organization Fair (will stay open until 6:05)

4:55 – 5:15 – Faculty Session #1

5:20 – 5:40 – Faculty Session #2

5:45 – 6:05 – Faculty Session #3

During each 20-min session faculty will present in panel format. Each faculty member will introduce themselves and share departmental highlights including student successes. Following introductions the session will open up for attendees to ask questions.

6:15 – 7:00 – Academic Advising Session #1

Campus Tour #1

Residence Hall Tour #1

7:15 – 8:00 – Academic Advising Session #2

Education Majors

Hi Education Majors!

As I am graduating in these next few weeks I have many education text books from Augsburg Courses that I am looking to sell. If you are new to the education field or are looking for some of your text books for cheaper than bookstore prices, please email me at waskosky@augsburg.edu and I can let you know which books I have (most brand new condition no markings!). I also have many MTLE practice books, like new with no markings or bends. They have helped me to pass every exam on the first time.

Please email me with questions about books and prices.

Thanks,
Samantha Waskosky

We are skilled gardeners, learning handymen, and are willing to meet our customers at a fair price for our work.

Our work includes, but is not limited to: weeding, tilling, organizing garden space, planting, transplanting, yard maintenance, basic construction, basic tiling, painting, and anything you may need a couple extra pair of hands for (moving, setting up for a garage sale, etc.).

You may reach us by email at: twoguysgardening@gmail.com or you may reach Eli at (612) 759-9726
