Apply to Off-Campus Summer Research - Wrkshp 1/14
Each year students apply to participate in off-campus summer research programs, where they are paid to conduct research with some of the nation's top academics at universities, labs, or institutes. There are programs designed for students in the sciences and social sciences and they often include a research stipend and housing. These off-campus research opportunities provide students with the chance to meet and work with faculty in their field and to explore possible academic or career routes post-graduation.
Check out URGO's website for a list of off-campus research opportunities and then come to the application workshop below to get individualized advice and feedback on your applications!
Off-Campus Research Application Workshop
Saturday, January 14th, 10-2 @ Sverdrup 201
If you are unable to attend the session but would still like feedback on your applications, please make an appointment with the URGO office at urgo@augsburg.edu or ext. 1446.
URGO Summer Research Applications Available
Are you looking for a paid summer research opportunity here on campus? URGO applications for 2017 summer research are now available on the URGO website at www.augsburg.edu/urgo. All fields of study welcome!
We have multiple summer opportunities available for students.
URGO SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM
The URGO Summer Research Program is an 11-week, on-campus program where students are funded to conduct research with a faculty mentor. Students receive support throughout the research process from their faculty mentor, a Speaker Series, and weekly seminars with fellow researchers. URGO provides full-time summer researchers (400 hours) with a $4,000 stipend and housing discount while half-time researchers (200 hours) receive a $2,000 stipend. The program runs from May 15th - July 28th.
URGO SUMMER RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIPS
URGO also provides funding for students to work for a professor as a research assistant on an ongoing research project. This is a 100-hour commitment over the course of the summer and comes with a $1,000 stipend. This is an excellent opportunity to try out research for the first time or focus on a specific aspect of a research project.
Phase 1 of the applications are due February 1st, so start talking with your faculty before break to learn about what research is going on in your department!
Scholarship + 2 Paid Internships for First Years
Apply to be a 2017 Kemper Scholar!

Year End Pay Stub Review - For All 2016 Faculty, Staff
In preparation for year-end 2016, we ask each employee to review the items below and contact us with any changes or updates to your personal information that we have on file.
1) Verify the Name and Social Security Number on your pay stub.
In order for the Social Security Administration to properly post your earnings, the name on your pay stub must match the name on your social security card. If your name has changed legally (marriage, divorce, etc.) and it does not match your pay stub, please submit a copy of a social security card displaying the correct name to Human Resources to update your employment record.
To help protect your identity, your social security number (SSN) is not normally printed on your pay stub. We are including it on the 12/23/16 pay stub so the SSN may be verified. Please take a look at your pay stub and verify that the correct SSN is listed. If the Social Security Number on your pay stub is incorrect, please notify HR/Payroll immediately.
2) Verify the address on your pay stub
W-2 forms will be available online by January 31, 2017, however we do request that you review the address listed on your pay stub to ensure we have your correct address on file. If address corrections are needed, an Address and Name Change Form can be found on the HR Moodle. Complete the form and return it to the Human Resources office in Memorial Hall, Rm 19. If you need any further assistance regarding your change of address please call the HR office at ext. 1058.
3) Check your tax withholdings
The tax withholdings you are currently claiming are printed on the bottom left section of your pay stub. If you wish to change your tax withholdings, please complete a new federal W-4 form; which are available from the Payroll department or may be printed from the Payroll page in the A to Z Directory.
