Parking Restrictions this Week

Utility work will be conducted this week which will impact those with a commuter or Evening/Weekend parking permit. We expect the utility work to be conducted Tuesday through Wednesday.

We will be posting 'No Parking' signs along the south-side of 8th Street South between 20th Ave South and 21st Ave South, as well as the west-side of 21st Ave South between 8th Street to the entrance into Parking Lot "D". Please be mindful of posted signage, as any vehicles parked along these routes are subject to relocation. Please plan your commute accordingly. Alternative parking lots are listed on the back of your permit.

Interested in Grad School? Sign Up for GRE Prep

Want to Go to Grad School? You May Need the GRE.

The GRE is a standardized test that is required for many graduate school applications. Augsburg College offers an eight week GRE prep course each summer for students, alumni, and staff at a cost well below those found at private test centers. This course is taught by Augsburg faculty and staff and walks students through each section of the general test. Throughout the course students complete sample test questions and receive in-depth feedback and instruction. The registration fee also includes a six-month subscription to the online GRE study tool, Magoosh.

Extended Deadline & CORRECTED CGEE Advising Sheet

The deadline for students to participate in Summer or Fall semester programs in Mexico, Central America, and Southern Africa has been extended to --MAY 1-- so students still have time! The Off-campus Studies Advising team is happy to offer a great new resource for you to use as you talk with your advisees about their academic plans for this summer and next year!

The CGEE 2016-17 Advising sheet for our Global Campuses in Mexico, Central America, and Southern Africa is a clear, hands-on document that shows all our course options. LAFs and Core requirements are offered on all our campuses, so it's a great piece to use as you meet with a student, check off courses they could take at our Global Campuses, and provide as a take away from your meetings.

Creating a Climate of Peace: Oil, War & Climate Change with speaker Antonia Juhasz

A talk on the effects of endless war and the fossil fuel economy on climate change, and what we can do about it.

Antonia Juhasz is a leading energy analyst, author and investigative journalist, specializing in oil. Juhasz is the author of three books: Black Tide (2011), The Tyranny of Oil (2008), and The Bush Agenda (2006). Her investigations have taken her a mile below the ocean surface in the Gulf of Mexico to the rainforests of the Ecuadorian Amazon, from the deserts of Afghanistan to the fracking fields of North Dakota, from the Alaskan Arctic to an Houston jail cell, and many more places in between. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelors Degree in Public Policy from Brown University.

Vote Nazih & Mahamoud 4 ADSG 2016/17

A lot of Augsburg Day Student Government's (ADSG) dealings are unknown to most students and to be honest a good portion of ADSG members. We want to enable the student body to have better access to what ADSG does and how others can be involved. Did you know ADSG has a "concerns online form" for students to post anything they want? Did you know any student can be in the Annual Commissioning Committee, EVEN if they are not on ADSG? ADSG also controls nearly $500,000 worth of student money. ADSG manages anything and everything related to student organizations.

Visible:
Do you know who are the members of ADSG? Do you know where you can find them? Where they meet weekly? When they meet weekly? When do ADSG members have their office hours? What is office hours? These are all questions that should be relatively well known after a month or so into the academic year.

ADSG works hard trying to better the campus, but they also have a lot responsibilities. ADSG does a great job, but ADSG could be better -- we need more help from the student body toward the betterment of the campus, with ADSG as the medium, to make Augsburg an even more inclusive, intentionally diverse, and a more "home-y" feeling campus.
