Jane Addams School for Democracy

The Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship is excited to announce that a Cedar-Riverside Jane Addams School for Democracy is launching September 28th in the Common Table Space at 2001 Riverside Avenue. This initiative will meet each Monday this fall, and it will bring together immigrant and refugee families with college students and other interested community members in learning circles. The learning circles feature bilingual interpreted dialogues each week and 1-to-1 or small group learning time guided by the idea that we are all teachers and learners. This new initiative is based on a similar project that has taken place for 19 years in St. Paul, and it connects with the Common Table goal to be a space that brings together the campus community and the local neighborhood. If you are interested in learning more or getting involved, contact Derek Johnson at 612-330-1451 or johnsod1@augsburg.edu
