Courage and Renewal Retreat Series

I would like to invite you to consider participating in a Courage & Renewal Retreat series beginning in October. In these challenging times, we often face the question of how to stay true to our deeply held values amid the complexity of our roles and responsibilities. For those of us who teach, lead and serve our communities, it's especially crucial that we make time to renew our spirits and reflect on the purpose and meaning that underlie our work so that we can sustain ourselves.

This retreat series explores issues of transition, vocation, life purpose, meaning, and renewal. Seasonal metaphors, poetry and prose, music and video, nature and movement, small and large group conversations, personal reflection and journaling are catalysts for considering generative questions, building community, developing greater alignment with our values and reconnecting who we are with what we do.

At this Courage & Renewal® retreat series you'll discover a unique kind of professional and personal development--one that deepens your self-awareness and renews your energy to live and lead with authenticity, integrity and courage. For additional information click go to http://www.couragerenewalmn.org/ You may also contact Ron Petrich at petrich@augsburg.edu with questions as you consider participation.

Event Announcements

Syllabus Set? Consider These Fall Strommen Events

Beginning Sept. 21 - The Strommen Center for Meaningful Work is hosting a new 5-week Major/Career Exploration pilot program in partnership with URGO and Alumni Relations, designed to help students explore majors and careers by disciplines in alignment with our academic divisions, plus one week focused on pre-health and one designed to support undecided students or those still exploring majors or careers:

Week of Sept. 21 - Professional Studies Week
Week of Sept. 28 - Fine Arts & Humanities Week
Week of Oct. 5 - Natural & Social Sciences Week
Week of Oct. 12 - Pre-Health Week
Week of Oct. 19 - Undecided & Exploratory Students Week

More than 20 events and panel discussions are scheduled during the five weeks, submitted by more than 12 individuals/departments, and we anticipate well over 20 alumni will be coming back to campus to share their wisdom and experience as part of these offerings.

Faculty are invited to spread the word about these offerings to students, or to consider bringing your entire class to any of the panels and other events that may coincide with your class meeting times (please RSVP to let Maggie Heier know you will be coming).

This pilot program is designed to bring the campus together in an effort to offer Augsburg students more proactive and early support in exploring academic and professional options, in alignment with our Augsburg2019 goals. Thank you to those faculty and departments who are hosting offerings as part of this pilot program. Questions? Please contact Maggie Heier, assistant director - Career & Internship Services.

To learn more or see the full schedule of events and offerings, including the names of many of the panelists who will be coming to campus, please visit: http://www.augsburg.edu/strommen/career-preparation/fall-majorcareer-exploration-series/
