Teaching and Learning
CSBR Course Revision Grants Available
With Augsburg's Center for Science, Business and Religion getting closer to realization, you are invited to submit course revision proposals that reflect the programmatic intent of the new center, which extends to all disciplines and programs. Proposals should evidence some understanding of the need the new building seeks to address, such as the limitations the traditional disciplinary structure entails for collegiate education and envision how the proposed disciplinary integration will affect both student learning and career success.
Examples of possible proposals include--but are not limited to--the following: a biology course that incorporates the religious and economic dimensions of stem-cell research; an economics course that assesses the dialogue between the World Bank and indigenous religions; a religion course that explores Luther's understanding of vocation for emerging robotics technology; a computer science course that considers the theological implications of virtual worlds and avatars; an accounting course that considers Scriptural understandings of money and debt; a political science course that takes time to facilitate a dialogue between proponents of Western neo-liberalism and advocates of sharia law.
Courses would not need a complete revision, of course, but new components that incorporate such explorations.
Grants requests can be up to $1000. To apply, please fill out the CSBR Course Revision Grant Application available at http://inside.augsburg.edu/ctl/grant-applications/ by April 20th. Questions can be directed to Larry Crockett crockett@augsburg.edu or Russell Kleckley kleckely@augsburg.edu .

Fund for the Public Interest -Tabling Today
Student Jobs to Protect our 10,000 Lakes
We're looking for smart, hard-working students who are eager to make a difference.
The Fund for the Public Interest (aka "the Fund") works with some of the top progressive organizations in the country like Environment America. And we're hiring!
We will be on the Augsburg campus Tuesday, April 7th in the Christensen Center. Come by the table to check it out!
Specifically, we're hiring full time campaign staff to work on campaigns for clean water, and to end subsidies to corporate farms. We have offices in over 30 cities this summer. Here in the local Minneapolis office, we're working on a campaign to protect Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. Loopholes in the Clean Water Act leave nearly 2 million miles of our country's streams and the drinking water for 117 million Americans vulnerable to pollution. We are working to ensure that our drinking water and all our waterways are protected by supporting the EPA's efforts to close these loopholes and enforce the law. We're hiring college students to join our staff to help mobilize public support for clean water.
We are looking for smart, motivated students who want to get their hands dirty and make a real impact on some of the most critical issues facing our society.
If you are interested in applying, visit our website at www.jobsforgoodcauses.org or call 1-800-75-EARTH.
Remember to come stop by the table on Tuesday, April 7th in the Christensen Center.
We will be holding information sessions and interviews on:
- Tuesday 4/7 in the Riverside Room at 10am, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm
- Thursday 4/9 in the Cedar Room at 10am, 2pm, and 4pm
