Faculty, Are You Feeling Stressed?
The end of the semester can also be stressful for faculty, but nobody sends us a care package. How do you navigate all the grading? How do you end the semester on a high-note? Come share your ideas, listen to those of your peers, and get caffeinated so you can do what needs to be done to support your students. Study in Mexico Over Spring Break: Dec. 1 Deadline
December 1 is the deadline for students to apply to take either REL300 or REL366 during Spring semester, with an international component in Mexico over Spring break! With the cold weather lately, who wouldn't want to look forward to some sun and warmth in March!
Advanced transfers can complete their REL300 requirement, or other students can complete their Search for Meaning II (SFMII) requirement with REL366.

The End Is Near - Visit the WL before It's Too Late
Get help finishing those papers! Writing Lab tutors are ready to make your lives easier and better, but you must visit them. The Writing Lab is located on the street level of Lindell Library, just left of the circulation desk. The Lab is open regular hours through Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 26, and reopens Sunday evening, Nov. 30. No appointments are taken/needed. Just show up with a hard copy of your work. This is a busy time for everyone so please come early (and often). Here are the regular hours:
Monday: 11:10 a.m. -1:40 p.m.; 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 12:30-3:00 p.m.; 3:30-6:00 p.m.; 7:30-10 p.m.
Wednesday: 3:30-6:00 p.m.; 6:30-9 p.m.
Thursday: 12:30-3:00 p.m.; 3:30-6:00 p.m.; 7:30-10 p.m.

Food Service Hours
Friday 11/21/14
Nabo is open from 7:30am to 8:00pm. The Special of the Day is Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup.
Einsteins is open from 7:30am-8:00pm, with the late night menu starting at 7:00pm.
The Commons is open from 7:30am-7:00pm. Market Place is serving Fish & Chips, Roasted Asparagus with Lemon Dill, Fried Brown Rice with Soy & Veggies, and Broccoli with Walnuts & Parmesan. Vege is serving Seasoned White Rice, Glazed Sweet Potatoes, Japanese Style Green Beans, and Buttered Cauliflower.
On Wednesday, November 26 The Commons, Einsteins, and Nabo will be closing at 1:30 p.m. Einsteins and Nabo will be closed from November 27th through November 30th. The Commons will be closed November 27th through November 29th and will reopen for Dinner at 5:00 p.m. on November 30th.
On December 12th from 11:00am-1:00pm in the Christensen Center Lobby there will be a meeting with The Food Service Director and a Dietician visit.

Get Paid To Do an Internship. Apply Today
Wouldn't it be GREAT if you could get paid to do an internship?
You may be able to do just that because of a grant recently awarded to Augsburg College. Augsburg has recently been awarded a Great Lakes Career Ready Grant. The Career Ready Internship grant from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation provides funds to colleges and universities so that they can partner with businesses and nonprofits to develop new paid internships, and convert existing unpaid internships into paid opportunities. This program serves juniors and seniors who receive financial aid, improving their odds of graduating and preparing them to enter the workforce with real-world experience in their fields of study.
To be eligible:
* Students must be in good academic standing (2.5+ GPA)
* Students must be a college junior or senior (60 credits completed) at the time of the internship
* Students must be eligible for financial aid (work study)
* The internship must be related to your major or career aspirations
* Internships will take place Spring and Summer 2015

2015 Annual Benefit Enrollment
The annual benefit enrollment period will be from November 10-21. Open Enrollment Information Sessions will be in the Marshall Room of Christensen Center.
Information sessions are:
November 21 at 12 p.m.
Representatives from HealthPartners, OptumHealth and Hays will be at the information sessions to answer any questions you might have about our plan offerings for 2015. Please plan to attend to learn what you need to do to enroll and/or make changes to your current benefit elections. We look forward to seeing you there.
Enrollment must be completed online. Once you have successfully completed your benefit enrollment for your health, dental, HSA and FSA elections a confirmation notice will be sent to your Augsburg email address. To make changes or enroll in Supplemental Life and AD&D insurance coverages you must complete the SunLife application for supplemental coverages and submit to the office of Human Resources no later than 4 p.m., November 21.
Due to a slight plan design change your 2014 plan elections will not carry over into 2015. If enrollment is not completed by the deadline, your plan coverage will end on December 31, 2014.
Human Resources has sent materials via email directly to all faculty and staff that are .75 FTE or greater. If you did not receive an email and believe that you should have please contact Human Resources at 612.330.1691, or Berggren@augsburg.edu.

Bill Nye Ticket Presale for Auggies Begins Nov. 24
Augsburg College students, faculty, and staff have a unique opportunity to purchase tickets during a campus presale for an address by Bill Nye "The Science Guy." Following the presale, tickets will be made available for purchase to the general public.
Nye will be on campus February 14 to speak at a special Scholarship Weekend event at which he will share his love for science. In the talk "How Science Can Save the World," Nye will speak with depth and humor about planetary science, climate change, evolution, environmental awareness, and more.
This Scholarship Weekend event, which is sponsored by Admissions and in partnership with Institutional Advancement, is designed to raise awareness of the College among prospective students, their families, and high school counselors.
The event builds upon the success the College experienced during the 2014 Scholarship Weekend when nearly 100 prospective Auggies were challenged by deep questions of compassion and humanity posed in a talk by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Following this special event, the College last year received more deposits than ever before from attendees of Scholarship Weekend.
Presale tickets are available to Augsburg College students, faculty, and staff beginning at 10 a.m., Monday, November 24 and running through 11:59 p.m., Sunday, December 7. An Augnet login is required to access the presale.
The cost is $12 for Augsburg College students and $28 for Augsburg College faculty and staff. A $3 service charge will be applied to each ticket at checkout. All tickets are general seating. Hard Work Pays Off for '69 Auggie
"When I think about what Augsburg has done for me, I know I can afford to make a gift," says Larry Turner '69, who made a gift of appreciated stock for the Center for Science, Business, and Religion. "I see a real need and it's extremely important to support that," explains Larry. He says it pains him to see how hard Augsburg has to work to raise money for such an important project. "I strongly encourage all alumni to make a gift to the CSBR," says Larry.
Larry is quick to say that Augsburg changed his life. Growing up on a farm near West Concord, Minn., he was unsure what he could accomplish in life. "No one expected me to go to college," he remembers. But Larry had become familiar with Augsburg through family and friends, and decided to give it a shot. He planned to major in math and physics, but eventually turned to accounting and economics.
Larry had to learn some hard lessons at Augsburg before he found success. Unprepared for college-level academic rigor, he nearly failed out. But instead of showing him the door, Augsburg put him on probation and gave him one more semester to pull it all together, because the faculty believed he could do it. "In order to achieve, you have to believe you can achieve, and then work like heck," explains Larry.

Congrats to Emerging Leaders Program Graduates
Campus Activities and Orientation is incredibly excited to announce the 2014 Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) graduates! These students worked over the course of the past 10 weeks to gain a more holistic understanding of leadership, further develop and gain a better sense of their personal leadership styles, and find opportunities to lead at Augsburg College and the greater community.
