Auggie Athletics

Auggie 'Super Sports Saturday' on Nov. 8

It will be a “Super Sports Saturday” at Augsburg this Saturday (11/8), with two teams competing for Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff titles, and three other Auggie teams also in action at home.

The Auggie volleyball and women’s soccer teams, both conference regular-season champions, will be competing in MIAC playoff championship games, with automatic berths in the NCAA Division III national tournaments on the line.

The Auggie volleyball team will host No. 2-seed St. Thomas at 5 p.m. at Si Melby Hall, in a rematch of a thrilling five-set Auggie road win on Oct. 22. The Auggie women’s soccer team will host No. 2-seed Concordia-Moorhead at 7 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field, aiming to avenge a 2-1 loss on the road on Oct. 1.

Tickets for Saturday’s playoff events are $7 for adults and $3 for students (children 5 years old and younger are free). There are no senior discounts. ALL patrons, including Augsburg students, staff and faculty, must pay admission. The only passes honored are MIAC-issued passes.

The Augsburg athletic department will pay for admission for the first 150 Augsburg students at the door for both of the playoff games on Saturday. Students must bring and show their Augsburg student ID in order to receive the free admission.

Augsburg fans are also encouraged to wear their Augsburg MAROON for all Auggie playoff games!

In addition to the playoff games, Augsburg’s football team will host Hamline in the annual battle for “The Hammer” traveling trophy at 1 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field; the Auggie women’s hockey team will host Concordia-Wisconsin in the second game of a weekend series at 2 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and the men’s hockey team will host Bethel in the second game of its MIAC-season-opening series at 7:30 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.

Augsburg will also have a video webcast and live statistics of each playoff game, along with the football game, available on its GameCentral portal via Stretch Internet.
