Theater Department – Auditions For A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Augsburg Theater Department will hold auditions for its first 2014-2015 main stage production, A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Martha Johnson:

Monday, September 8 from 6:00-9:00pm (general auditions)
Tuesday, September 9 from 3:40-6:40pm (general auditions)
Movement call-back auditions for fairy characters will be held Wednesday, September 10 from 5:00-6:00pm
Acting call-back auditions will be held Thursday, September 11 from 6:00-10:00pm
Auditions will be held in the Tjornhom-Nelson Theater, located in Foss Center. Further information, as well as audition sign-up sheets will be posted on the Tjornhom-Nelson Theater door in the Atrium of the Foss Center.

All Augsburg students are welcome to audition! Audition monologues, audition tips, and copies of A Midsummer Night's Dream have been placed on reserve in the library, under the name of Martha Johnson, and at the Theater department desk in Foss Center. Please choose and carefully prepare 2 monologues from those provided. It is recommended that you read the entire play in order to have a sense of the tone of the piece and the nature of the characters.

- Please arrive at the audition site at least 10 minutes before your scheduled audition time. Those who arrive after their scheduled time may not be allowed to audition.
- Please wear appropriate attire to auditions. (i.e. dress accordingly as one would for a professional audition. No jeans, flip-flops, t-shirts, crop tops, halter tops, etc.)
- Please bring to auditions a complete list of all conflicts you may have with the rehearsal and performance schedule, including work, classes, social commitments (such as weddings, anniversaries, etc.) and ensemble performances. Actors should declare all known conflicts, in writing, at the time of the general audition.

Rehearsals begin September 15 and performance dates are October 31-November 9.

Description of A Midsummer Night's Dream:
With its potent mixture of love, comedy, lyricism, and stage magic, A Midsummer Night's Dream has continued to captivate audiences for over four centuries. Set in a mythical world of ancient Athens, moonlit woods, and fairy kingdoms, the play is a poignant and hilarious look at multifarious forms of human folly. Our production will imaginatively explore the play's rich and compelling themes (both overt and covert)—love, power, gender, sexuality, marriage, class, patriarchy–through a fresh, contemporary lens, as we mine the play's poetic, humorous, and magical power.

Part Time Job for In-Home Pre-school Teacher

Hi, my name is Frank Haege. I am the Head Football Coach here at Augsburg College. I am also the father of four year old twin boys. We are looking for a student who would like to come to our home; which is less than a mile from Augsburg, 6-12 hours a week to work on some abc's and 123's. The ideal candidate would be an early childhood/elementary education major. We are thinking around $10-12 per hour. Email me your resume, your class/activity schedule and a note to haege@augsburg.edu. Thanks.
