Two New Financial Aid Changes
In order to create a simpler and clearer policy that still complies with the Department of Education requirements, we have made two important changes to the tuition refund and financial aid recalculation starting fall semester 2014. Please read these policies closely as they may dramatically affect your aid and refund of tuition.
Contact studentfinances@augsburg.edu, 612-330-1046, if you have any questions.
Tuition Refund Schedule
Students will get a 100% tuition refund for any courses they drop without notation through the date labeled "Last day to drop without a 'W' grade & 100% refund - Full Semester class" on the Academic Calendar (http://www.augsburg.edu/registrar/calendars/). After this date, students can no longer receive a refund of tuition unless they withdraw from all courses. This policy is effective whether or not a student has attended classes.
Students withdrawing from all of a term's courses may receive a 50% tuition refund when they withdraw by the date labeled "Last day to withdraw with 50% refund - Full Semester class" on the Academic Calendar.
If a student has extenuating circumstances and needs to petition a refund decision, an Academic/Financial Petition is available at www.augsburg.edu/registrar/forms. Petitions are carefully reviewed by a committee and responded to fairly and in a timely manner.
Credit Load and Financial Aid
All federal, state grants and loans, as well as institutional grants and scholarships are awarded based upon the total number of registered credits on the "Last day to add with faculty signature - Full Semester class" on the Academic Calendar. Students must register for internships, Time 2 classes, and ACTC classes before the "Last day to add with faculty signature-Full Semester class". Financial aid will not be adjusted for classes added after this date.
What this Means to You: You must actively attend and participate in classes throughout the semester. If you drop or add courses, you must pay special attention to the dates on the academic calendar. Financial aid is recalculated when you drop classes without a "w" grade, fail to begin classes, cease to attend classes, fail all classes, or fully withdraw from all classes.
