Library hours during the break will be:
Saturday, March 15: 10:00 am-4:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 16: 2:00 pm-8:00 p.m.
Monday, March 17-Thursday, March 21: 10:00 am-8:00 p.m.
Friday, March 22: 10:00 am-6:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 22: 10:00 am-6:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 23: Regular hours resume

Library resources are also available 24/7 from that website.

Students, faculty, and staff may use their fob to access the Link Level Gage Center computing lab and study spaces somewhat earlier and later.

McNair Scholars Program Recruiting for Fall 2014

Augsburg College's TRIO McNair Scholars Program is recruiting for Fall 2014 admission. The goal of the program is to prepare Scholars for graduate study through academics, involvement in undergraduate research, and other scholarly activities. McNair teams scholars with other academically strong students who aspire to graduate study, and helps them to achieve that dream.

The McNair Scholars Program works with students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate education and who exhibit strong academic potential. The program provides coursework, workshops, and advising in preparation for graduate study. Also, the program assists with securing admission to and financial assistance for enrollment in graduate programs. Students will acquire the research skills necessary to succeed in graduate school through a paid research internship ($4,000) with an Augsburg faculty member during the Summer of 2015.

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Therefore, to be eligible, students must be first-generation (neither parent graduated from a four-year college) AND low-income OR may be persons from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The Department of Education defines these groups as African-American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, and Hispanic/Latino. Additionally, applicants must be either U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.

April 1 Deadline for CGE Summer/Fall Study Abroad

There is still time to apply for Center for Global Education (CGE) summer study abroad! Application deadline is April 1 for the following summer programs. NOTE: Fall programs in Mexico, Central America and Southern Africa are also open for enrollment until April 1.

The Center for Global Education offers two exciting summer study abroad options. CGE operates Augsburg mini-campuses abroad so you can earn Augsburg College credit in a variety of disciplines.

Mexico Summer Academic Program: Six- or twelve-week options are available. Knock off numerous Spanish language requirements, or take an art or religion course. CGE-Mexico also offers academic internships for credit in 10+ disciplines. We can even work with Auggies to customize a summer program through which you can enroll in a specialized Spanish course (e.g. Spanish for Healthcare Settings; Spanish for Business) and pair it with an internship in the same field.

Social Change in Southern Africa: Travel to Namibia, an English-speaking country, and learn about international development while participating in a seven-week internship. Earn credit in history, religion, political science, environmental students, women's studies and more.

2014 Day at the Capitol takes place on April 3 from 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Augsburg provides private bus transportation to and from the State capitol—bus leaves Augsburg at 8:00 a.m. and returns to campus around 2:30 p.m. The Minnesota Private College Council provides on-site training on how to talk to legislators about the State Grant program, schedules your visits with legislators, coordinates all on-site activities and provides lunch. Students from Bethel University, Concordia and St. Scholastica will also attend Day at the Capitol, April 3rd.

Wednesday April 2 Training: Augsburg Day Student Government and Augsburg Government Relations will host a free pizza dinner at 5:00 p.m. in the East Commons where Dennis Egan from the Minnesota Private College Council will demonstrate effective techniques for talking with your elected representatives. CGE Program Satisfaction/Outcome Data

The Center for Global Education has been working to better quantify our impact in the field of international education, including how we may have influenced this campus community. Many individuals at Augsburg College are aware of who CGE is and what we do on campus and nationally, while others are not. We wanted to share with both groups some key data that our recent research has produced.

CGE coordinates short-term study abroad programs for institutions of higher education such as Ohio State University, Boston College, Pacific Lutheran University and many more. Most programs run from 7-10 days, but we have contracted with institutions like Carleton College and Furman University to develop and manage full-term programs (trimester, quarter or semester).

Data highlights:
--In FY 2012-2013, CGE coordinated 45 travel seminars for 717 participants. Nine of these programs were for/with Augsburg College faculty and staff.
--Over 95% of the participants rated the seminars as excellent or very good overall
--Over 99% of the participants would recommend our programs to others
--Over 91% of the participants completely agreed that the travel seminar included experiential learning drawing upon a range of local presenters and resources, and learning directly from people they would not have otherwise encountered

Thanks for supporting CGE and we hope to serve more of you this year and beyond.

PCA Needed for Special Needs Child

Looking for a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for a special needs child. PCA will be responsible to for working directly with a 10-year-old autistic boy in the home environment. He is a happy boy who loves people and loves to play. Come and be a part of his team and allow him to enrich your life as you enrich his!

Hours:
Tuesday Evening 5-9pm.
Thursday Evening 5-9pm.

Job Duties:
Provide personal care to individuals with special needs. Responsibilities may include bathing, grooming, companionship, bowel and bladder care, community involvement, social skills, behavioral support, etc.

Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have minimum of 6 months health care experience
Must have minimum of 1 year of working with children with autism or equivalent training/education.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must have a clean driving record and proof of insurance.

Professionalism:
Employees are expected to treat client with respect and compassion at all times.
Employees will be working in the home environment, so respect for family and friends of individual is necessary at all times.
The use of inappropriate language, music, television, etc, will result in immediate termination.
Employees will be on time for all shifts. No absences allowed in the first 8 weeks!

Position Available Immediately upon successfully passing a background study.
College students and interns are encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $12.00-14.00/hr. DOQ
