Lot Closure - Monday, March 10

LOT B & E CLOSED MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NOON:

Lot B (large lot South Urness/Mort) and E (small lot North of Mortensen) will be closed beginning Monday night (March 10) at 10 p.m. through Tuesday morning (March 11) at 12 p.m.

Vehicles must be moved to the other approved residential parking lots such as Lots F (Anderson/Luther), and Lot L (behind dome)

This lot closure is at the request of students who have reported the frustrations of the difficult snow conditions for parking in the lot. Closing the lot and removing all vehicles for this time will allow facilities crews to do a full snow removal and clean up the lot.

Vehicles left in the parking lot will be ticketed and towed at the owner/operator expense. Public Safety will do their best to call vehicle owners before towing. We do this by looking up registered license plates. Please make sure to review that your vehicle information and cell phone are updated in the Parking Services system though Inside Augsburg.

Mpls Campus Building Accessibility Audits

The Accessibility at Augsburg Committee invites campus community members to help with physical accessibility audits for five buildings on the Minneapolis campus.

We have self-audits set up for five buildings. Each group is capped at 10. Please go to:

Total Compensation Statements

Human Resources recently mailed total compensation statements to all benefits eligible faculty and staff members. The total compensation statements were sent to provide additional information about salary benefits received. The statements are for information purposes only and it is our intent to provide the information annually. The following information gives more detail about how the figures were calculated.

BASE PAY CALCULATION
Annual Salary as of December: This figure represents the actual annual salary amount that has been entered into the system as of December 31. It may be different than the actual amount of salary earned in 2013 if you were hired after January 1, or if you received any type of salary increase throughout the year.

ADDITIONAL EARNED PAY
Additional Course Pay: This figure represents any amount of pay received for classes being taught.

Stipend: This figure represents pay received for stipend work, such as coaching.

Overtime: This figure represent the amount of overtime pay received during the year.

Shift Differential: This figure represents the amount of pay non-exempt employees received for hours worked after 2:00 p.m. that are subject to shift differential.

Community Service: This figure represents the amount of pay received for hours you spent participating in community service work.

Floating Holidays: This figure represents the amount of pay received for time away from work for floating holidays.

Personal Days: This figure represents the amount of pay received for time away from work for personal days.

Sick: This figure represents the amount of pay received for time away from work for sick days.

Vacation: This figure represents the amount of pay received for time away from work for vacation days.

College Paid Holidays: This figure represents the amount of pay received for time away from work for recognized College Holiday days.


AUGSBURG PAID BENEFITS
FICA: This figure represents the Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax payments paid by Augsburg on your behalf (Medicare and Social Security).

Basic Life: This figure represents the amount of premiums paid by Augsburg on your behalf for your basic life insurance coverage.

Health Premiums: This figure represents the amount of premiums paid by Augsburg on your behalf for Health insurance premiums.

Short Term Disability: This figure represents the amount of short term disability payments you received.

Long Term Disability: This figure represents the amount of long term disability payments you received.

Health Savings Account (HSA): This figure represents the amount of HSA contributions Augsburg made to your HSA account.

Wellness/Biometric: This figure represents the amount Augsburg paid for your Biometric screening.

403 (B): This figure represents the amount of contributions Augsburg made to your TIAA CREF 403(B) account.

ELCA Clergy Retiree Support: This figure represents the fees paid by Augsburg for management of your ELCA benefits.

Tuition Remission: This figure represents the amount of tuition paid for yourself, your dependents or spouse for classes taken at Augsburg College.


TOTAL COMPENSATION
This figure is the cumulative of base pay as of December 31, 2013, additional earned pay, paid leave time and Augsburg paid benefits.

Nominations for Christensen-Justice Award Due Fri.

The Marina Christensen-Justice Award is presented to one graduating senior at commencement each year who best exemplifies Augsburg's motto "Education for Service." The student must have demonstrated a dedication to community involvement as characterized by the personal and professional life of Marina Christensen-Justice, who courageously and effectively reached out to disadvantaged people and communities.

Nomination should include:

Name of graduating senior
Major
Person who is submitting the nomination

Description of the ways that the student has been involved in the off-campus community during his/her time at Augsburg though service-learning experiences, internships, volunteer experiences,the Bonner Program, etc.

Putt-putt Mini Golf in Kennedy Center

The Exercise Science Club and the members of the golf team invite you to participate in the inaugural Auggie 'Masters' putt putt competition. Tuesday night, April 11. The 13 hole course will be strategically incorporated throughout Kennedy and Melby. Players may start at 6:30 p.m. and clean-up begins at 9:30 p.m. Popcorn and prizes will be attainable --> maybe even a 'green-jacket' or a trophy of sorts. 2 dollar donations per round to help fund additional events for the golf program. Screenwriter Nicole Brending, Thursday, March 13

Screenwriter Nicole Brending, Thursday, March 13
Screenwriter and MFA Mentor Nicole Brending will be screening her work on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Marshall Room, Christensen Center.

Nicole is a three-time Jerome Foundation Grand recipient, a former McKnight Screenwriting Fellow, as well as the winner of the Ezra Litwak Award for Distinction in Screenwriting. Her feature project PRESERVATION was the only American project selected for the 2011 Berlinale Co-Production Market and her short films have garnered such awards as "Best of the Fest" (Palm Springs), "Best Short" (Hamburg and Q Cinema), the "Prix de Varti" (Ann Arbor). She graduated with honors from Columbia University's MFA Film Program and has developed projects for the Robert Evans Company, Blossom Films and Fido Features, to name a few.

This is a MFA info session event, and is open to the public.

Urban Farming: Production, Policy, and Education

The inner city presents great opportunities for urban farming, as well as interesting challenges. The Campus Kitchen at Augsburg College and Augsburg's Course "The Science of Food and Cooking" will host a panel of growers that have experience in urban agriculture and will address related issues around production, policy, and education. The panel will include Stefan Meyer of Growing Lots Farm, a CSA farm 3 blocks from Augsburg; Dayna Burtness, founder of the St Olaf Organic Farm and current owner of Laughing Loon Farm in Northfield; and Russ Henry, owner of Giving Tree Gardens and member of the Homegrown Minneapolis, the city's official Food Policy Advisory group.

Students with the Science of Cooking class and Campus Kitchen will prepare some locally grown treats to enjoy. Guests can also have a free currant, raspberry, or grape plant that we'll transplant from the Augsburg Community Garden.

Heid Erdrich Wins First Peoples Cultural Grant

MFA Poetry/Mixed Genre Mentor Heid Erdrich is one of this year's First Peoples Fund Cultural Capital grantees. She will host the Turtle Mountain Writers Workshop, a weeklong residency to partner emerging writers and artists with established ones. By the end of the week, attendees will have written, critiqued and performed poetry and short stories in a collaboration with one another.

"So many of us work in multiple art forms," she said. "That is one of the really wonderful things about Native artists. I want to recognize, encourage and grow that within the community that will gather for the residency."
