Lindell Library Winter Break Hours

Lindell Library hours will be:
Friday, December 20: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday, December 21-22: Closed
Monday, December 23: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Tuesday, December 24 - Sunday, December 29: Closed
Monday-Tuesday, December 30-31: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Wednesday, January 1: Closed
Thursday-Friday, January 2-3: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday, January 4-5: Closed
Monday, January 6 - Wednesday, January 8: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Thursday, January 9: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday, January 10: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday, January 11-12: Closed
Monday, January 13: Regular operating hours resume

URGO Summer Research Applications - Due Feb. 3

Are you looking for a summer research opportunity? Would you like to get paid to do research? URGO applications for 2014 summer research are now available. All fields of study welcome!

Students must:
-Be a full-time Augsburg undergraduate
-Have completed at least one year of undergraduate study and have at least one semester of full-time study left
-Have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 (lower GPAs are considered on a case-by-case basis)
-Have not previously participated in URGO Summer Research or the McNair Scholars Program

Research options:
Full-time: 400 hours of research = $4,000 stipend
Part-time: 200 hours of research = $2,000 stipend
Research Assistant: 100 hours of research = $1,000 stipend

Phase One applications due Feb. 3.

Moodle Huddle Workshops Jan. 7 & 8

Get Cozy with Moodle - Two Days Only!

Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8
9:00 a.m. - Noon
Sverdrup Hall, 2nd Floor

Harness the power under the hood with our ultra-concentrated series of Moodle workshops designed to maximize your time and effectiveness for delivering your courses. There will be sessions with hands-on time to dig in and create the next great iteration of your course.

Moodle Huddle provides development for faculty and staff on commonly used moodle features and its lesser-known gems, and promotes best practices of hybrid teaching and learning.

Topics include:
Course Building Shortcuts
Facilitate Student Success with Reports and Analytics
Design Effective Forum Discussions
Comprehensive Assessment with Gradebook
Integrate Accessibility - Understanding Student Access to Content
Assignment Assessment Made Simpler - Rubrics and Marking Guides

General Announcements

Augsburg Accepts Charitable Gifts Until Year's End

Advancement offices are open daily from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., including December 30 and 31, to assist Augsburg's donors, staff, faculty and students with year-end giving.

Gifts will be received and processed in Oren Gateway Center suite 300. If you want to make a gift to Augsburg for tax year 2013, make sure you drop it off no later than Tuesday, December 31. You may also make a gift online at http://www.augsburg.edu/giving/ or mail your gift via the postal service to Advancement Services 2211 Riverside Ave CB 142, Minneapolis, MN 55454. Make sure it is postmarked on or before December 31.

If your office receives any gifts on behalf of the college, please carry them over to OGC 300 to be deposited and receipted. Call Kevin Healy at 612-330-1619 or Margo Abramson 612-330-1557. We will be closed December 24, December 25, and January 1.

If you would like to make a gift of stock or securities, or need to talk to someone about the best way to make a gift to the college, we're here to help. Happy Holidays

Central Services Holiday Hours

Shipping/Receiving and the Mailroom will be open the following hours on December 23, 26, 27, 30, 31:
Shipping/Receiving 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Mailroom 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The Copy Center will be closed December 23-January 1.

Normal hours resume January 2.

We anticipate that many departments on campus will be unstaffed. If your department will be staffed and you would like to continue your regular mail and package delivery during the period Dec. 23-Dec. 31, please call ext. 1054 TODAY with that request.

In an effort to streamline and do our work differently, we will be moving toward all purchase requisition requests being done online. If you are used to sending an email to Purchasing to start the purchase order process, or filling out a paper purchase requisition, this training is for you.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Rev. Dr. Marilyn Breckenridge '61 Makes CSBR Gift

Marilyn '61 and Tom Breckenridge Sponsor Two Faculty Offices for CSBR

The Rev. Dr. Marilyn Saure Breckenridge '61 is Augsburg College's first female graduate to be ordained as a Lutheran pastor. To recognize and honor Breckenridge's trailblazing role in the church, Augsburg awarded her the Distinguished Alumna Award in 1994.

Marilyn and her husband, Tom Breckenridge, are sponsoring two faculty offices in the Center for Science, Business, and Religion with their campaign gift of $50,000.
