Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Snow Emergency/Removal

When a significant amount of snow falls, the city of Minneapolis declares a Snow Emergency to remove accumulating snow from the full width of city streets. If you are parked on a city street and do not follow the snow emergency rules, your vehicle will be ticketed and towed by the city.

Due to the current snowfall, crews are out plowing and treating streets. As of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, a Snow Emergency has not been declared. BUT PLEASE CONTINUE TO CHECK BACK DURING THE DAY. If you park on city streets, please visit the city of Minneapolis snow emergency website. Here you will find the snow emergency parking rules along with an interactive map showing where you can park and when. The snow emergency parking page is:
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/snow/index.htm

It is NOT Augsburg's responsibility to notify you of snow emergencies on city streets. If the city tows your car, it will cost you several hundred dollars to get it back. If you park on city streets, I STRONGLY recommend that you subscribe to email/SMS and phone notification of snow emergencies. The following links will take you directly to those services:

To receive an email of SMS message when a snow emergency is declared:
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/snow/snow_stay-informed

If you have an Augsburg parking permit and are properly parked in one of our lots, our maintenance crews will do their best to plow around your car. If we need you to move your vehicle, we can look you up by your license plate if it is registered in parking services. If need be, you can check out a shovel with your student or employee ID card at the DPS desk in the Urness/Mortenson lobby.

Day (temporary) parking passes for Augsburg lots are available for $5 through Augnet's Parking Services. Passes are limited.

BICYCLES:
Bicycles must be parked and locked in approved bicycle racks on campus. Bicycles parked along fences or other unapproved areas may be damaged during snow plowing or may be removed by Public Safety to allow for plowing.

Those who do not plan to ride during the winter months are encouraged to store their bicycles at their homes, if possible. Thanksgiving break is a good time to load it up and take it home.

CTL Night at the Theater

April 12 at 7 p.m.
Tjornhom-Nelson Theater, Foss Center

During both fall and spring semesters, CTL reserves tickets to an Augsburg theater production and offers them to faculty, staff, and their significant others. Theater offers a unique way of learning or knowing – from stories that touch our hearts and mind. Experiencing it together adds a social dimension that allows us to discover what the stories mean to others and what new possibilities they see. Through theater we can be healed and transformed, as well as entertained. All productions are in the Tjornhom-Nelson Theater.

Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to attend the spring production, RSVP to ctl@augsburg.edu This year, we have reserved tickets for:

Cabaret
By Joe Masteroff
Music by John Kander
Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Directed by Darcey Engen
Music Direction by Sonja Thompson

Set in the fictional Kit Kat Klub in 1930s Berlin, the musical Cabaret depicts the immense political upheaval taking place in Germany during the rise of Nazi power. Based on a book by Christopher Isherwood, with music by Kander and Ebb, the story portrays several couples that meet and fall in love, only to see their relationships unravel as the Nazis begin to infiltrate all elements of their lives.

Student Government Elections

Hi All:

My Name is Jay Kline (Jaquan)

It's election time again and I wanted to request everyone's help with the voting process. This week is the last week to vote for student body president; I'm running along with my partner Mona Ahmed. I could really use the help of all Auggies in this election, as I'm attempting to bring a new face of diversity to our school's student student government. As i currently work for the state government under Governor Mark Dayton's administration, i am sure that i could bring a significant change to the way things are run upon campus.

My Message to all is: I joined to become a voice for the misrepresented within the Augsburg Community by taking a closer look at serious, often overlooked issues facing a variety of cultures. As a diverse private institution, our views should reflect more than just emphasis on academic issues.

Thank you All,

Jay Kline
