Students: Need to Take REL 200? — More Options

The faculty recently approved a change to the Core Curriculum requirements. This is important to you because it gives you more options in completing the REL 200 requirement. Students required to take REL 200 now have the option of taking either REL 200 OR substituting any other full credit REL or YFM course!! This assumes other prerequisites are met.

Please note, some REL courses also satisfy a Humanities (HUM) LAF requirement. As with the entire Core Curriculum, a course may not satisfy more than 1 requirement. This means that students cannot use 1 course to fill both the Signature Curriculum REL requirement and a Humanities LAF.

Consider one of the following courses in Fall 2013:
• REL 200, Christian Vocation and the Search for Meaning II, various times
• REL 205, Islam, TR 12-1:40 PM
• REL 301, Interpreting the Old Testament, T 6-9 PM
• REL 345, The Lutheran Heritage, TR 12-1:40 PM
• REL 362, Martin Luther and the Reformation, TR 1:50-3:30
• REL 370, American Indian Spirituality and Philosophic Thought, W 6-9 PM
• REL 386, Speaking of Genesis, MWF 1:50-3 PM
• YFM 235, Foundations for Ministry with Youth and Families, TR 9:40-11:20 AM
If you have questions, contact Mark Tranvik or Academic Advising (LIN 227 or advising@augsburg.edu or 612/330-1025).

ATTENTION ADVISORS – Religion Requirement Change

The faculty recently approved a change to the Core Curriculum, specifically the Signature Curriculum REL 200 requirement. Previously, students entering Augsburg with fewer than 13 course credits would take REL 100 and REL 200. With this change, students who have taken REL 100 have options for their second religion course. Now, students take REL 100 plus any full credit REL or YFM course to complete their REL Core Signature Curriculum requirement. REL 200 will continue to be offered and accepted for the core. As in the past, REL 300 is reserved for Advance Transfer students (13+ course credits in transfer).

Some REL courses will continue to satisfy a Humanities (HUM) LAF requirement just as they've done in the past. A list of REL courses approved as a HUM requirement is found on the Registrar's Office website. As with the entire Core Curriculum, a course may not satisfy more than 1 requirement. This means that students cannot use 1 course to fill both the Signature Curriculum REL requirement and a Humanities. If you have questions, contact Mark Tranvik or Sheila Anderson (x1777 or andersos@augsburg.edu).

Keeping Clean Yard Sale

As Spring slowly arrives, we all begin to clean out our closets, dorm spaces, homes and apartments in celebration of warmer weather.

Augsburg Step-Up and members of Project Management Section A, are asking for your help by donating your gently used clothing, accessories, dorm room/apartment furnishings, and electronics. Items will be donated to the First annual Keeping clean Yard Sale, Fundraiser and Informational. Being held on Friday, April 5, 2013 In the Oren Gateway Atrium (Date Change) from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

We as Students of Project Management Section A, are looking to raise awareness and support of Augsburg's Step-Up program, the country's largest residential college recovery program. Every year Augsburg's Step-Up program serves and assists around 85 students from around the country and has served over 600 individuals during its strong sixteen year history.

All the proceeds made from this yard sale will go to the building of a Scholarship fund that would benefit the countless Students within the Step-Up program who cannot afford the ever rising cost of tuition, housing, and books.

With the help of donations from the Augsburg community and the broader surrounding Twin Cities area, we hope to make a difference and show our support for a pivotal group in our Augsburg community. All donations can be made to us in the Christensen Center on:
•Tuesday, March 5 from 11:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
•Wednesday, March 13 from 11:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
•Wednesday, March 26 from 11:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
•Wednesday, March 27 from 11:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
