Off-Campus Summer Research Jobs

If you are looking for a fun and engaging summer job that allows you to learn and build skills in your major, you may want to consider an off-campus summer research program. Many universities throughout the country host summer research programs designed to provide undergraduates with paid research experience under the supervision of faculty mentors. The deadlines for these programs are most often in January or February, so check out URGO's website to see if there is one that is right for you!

http://www.augsburg.edu/urgo/off-campus-research/

URGO provides advising and writing support for students applying to off-campus research programs, so please contact us at urgo@augsburg.edu or visit us in Science 152 if you plan to apply.

General Announcements

Considering Google Apps for Augsburg

After several months of weighing options, the IT Advisory Group is considering a recommendation that Augsburg transition to using the Gmail/Google Apps platform for email, calendaring, and network/file storage. The committee invites faculty, staff and students to any of several upcoming brown bag sessions to learn about this powerful framework for collaboration and to provide feedback on the idea of transitioning.

Please join us with your lunch in East Commons on

Thursday, January 17 from 12 noon – 1 p.m.
Tuesday, January 22 from 12 noon – 1 p.m.

Rochester opportunities are being planned as well.

There will be a brief presentation on what the Google Apps platform provides the campus and time for questions and answers. A comprehensive and growing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list is available on the IT website at http://inside.augsburg.edu/it

Be a Flu Fighter - Get Your Flu Shot

On behalf of your fellow students, faculty and staff, CCHP strongly encourages you to get a flu shot if you have not already done so this season. As you have heard on the news, there are widespread outbreaks of the flu being reported throughout the US and here in Minnesota as well and the best protection is being vaccinated.

The Minnesota Visiting Nurse Association will be on campus administering flu shots on Wednesday 1/23/13 from 12 noon - 1:30 p.m. No appointments are needed as it is a walk-in clinic. Most insurances are accepted so bring your insurance card or plan to pay $29 cash or check on-site.

Please help protect yourself and your fellow Auggies and get your flu shot! If you have any questions, please call Dianne at the CCHP office at 612-330-1707.
