Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Crime Alert: Thefts

Public Safety would like to notify the community of two recent reports of theft from campus. As the weather warms up, crime tends to increase. Please be extra vigilant in your personal safety and report any suspicious activity to Public Safety immediately.

A bicycle was reported missing on Monday afternoon. After reviewing camera footage, Public safety was able to determine the bicycle was stolen from Lot B at around 9:45 pm Sunday March 13th. The bicycle had been secured to a rack with a cable lock which was found cut and lying near the rack.

A laptop computer was reported stolen from Lindell Library on the evening of Tuesday March 15th. A student left the laptop in their back pack and when they returned to their work station the laptop was gone.

If you have any information about these crimes please contact Public Safety Dispatch or the Minneapolis Police. I can be reached at borcharj@augsburg.edu, or 612-330-1711, or 612-330-1717 (dispatch)

YOU CAN HELP PREVENT CRIME AT AUGSBURG!

- Don't leave your valuables unattended and unsecured in public places.
- Keep valuables out of view. If possible, secure them in drawer or cabinet. Better yet, take your valuables with you or leave them at home.
- If possible, lock bicycles with a U lock around the frame and any “quick release” tires.
- Be aware of your surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity or persons to Public Safety Dispatch (612-330-1717 or x1717 from a campus phone) or the Minneapolis Police.
