The final "listening session" with Augsburgs Public Safety Task Force is this Thursday at 8 am. The session will include a brief discussion of the recent community survey and current recommendations from the task force. The primary goal for these sessions is to get your input! Please bring your comments, questions and concerns and be prepared to discuss security at Augsburg.

For those of you lucky graduating seniors who have taken out a Federal Stafford Loan while attending Augsburg College, it is required that you complete some form of Exit Counseling. The Financial Aid Office will be offering an Exit Counseling Session on Wednesday, April 25th from 6:30 to 7:30 in Christiansen Center in the Marshall Room. In this session you will learn about repayment terms, budgeting and what does consolidation mean. If you are not able to make it to this event you can also complete your Exit Loan Counseling online at www.mapping-your-future.com. Once on this page you will click on Student Loan Counseling Interview, then Stafford Exit. We will receive notice that you've completed this form and make note of it on your account.

A BIG thank you from the Admissions Staff to all that assisted with Sneak Preview last Tuesday and Thursday night. We hosted 115 students and their parents over the course of the two nights. 27 students made their enrollment deposits!

Spring in the Valley 2007, an Earth Day event, will be held at the private non-profit Silkesnas (silk-es-nas) Nature Preserve owned by Professor Lori Peterson & her husband Rob on Earth Day from 1-5pm. Activities are geared toward all ages and are held out of doors. Hiking on natural terrain of light difficulty is required. Visitors should plan to spend approximately two hours to take in all of the activities, including viewing the natural beauty of the area and visiting with and learning from the various subject matter experts volunteering at the Preserve.

Message: Have you noticed the fine art additions that have spruced up the lobby of Sateren Music Hall? As you walk into the space you are now greeted by a large-scale photographic print of the Hoversten Chapel organ pipes by Stephen Geffre, an interactive sound and light installation by Dan Noyes and Robyn Ommen, and a metal sculpture by Norman Holen that was recently donated to the College. Join us as we celebrate these artists and their contributions on Thursday, April 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Sateren. All are welcome; refreshments will be served.

John is head of the Department of Foreign Languages at his college and has been on campus since the beginning of the semester. He will leave Augsburg on April 24th. Wednesday, April 18th is National Day of Silence, observed each year by individuals who are silent throughout the day to represent the silence of sexual/gender minorities. On the evening of the 18th, to "break the silence" Queer and Straight in Unity is sponsoring a concert from 6-8pm in the Foss chapel by "The Girls" a local band. We also will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Brian Colby food shelf. Come, it will be fun, bring your friends!

Admissions is looking for two interns to take over the work of the Homemade website. This new site has been created by students during the past year. We need students to continue this work into the next year. Students will be paid and can earn internship credit for their experience. We are looking for students with an interest in marketing and a knowledge of web page creation. Interns oversee the hiring of student bloggers and film producers and are responsible for determining the content of the Homemade site. If you are interested in one of these positions, please submit your resume to Carrie Carroll, Director of Admission.

This week marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of Leonhard Euler, one of the most talented and prolific mathematicians of all time. To celebrate this occasion, the mathematics department and the student math club, Unbounded, are hosting a quick Euler Birthday Party at 3 pm on Wednesday, April 18 in SCI 108. All are welcome to come sing happy birthday, enjoy some treats, and perhaps learn a tiny bit more about Euler.
