We have multiple summer opportunities available for students.

URGO SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM
The URGO Summer Research Program is an 11-week, on-campus program where students are funded to conduct research with a faculty mentor. Students receive support throughout the research process from their faculty mentor, a Speaker Series, and weekly seminars with fellow researchers. URGO provides full-time summer researchers (400 hours) with a $4,000 stipend and housing discount while half-time researchers (200 hours) receive a $2,000 stipend. The program runs from May 15th - July 28th.

URGO also provides funding for students to work for a professor as a research assistant on an ongoing research project. This is a 100-hour commitment over the course of the summer and comes with a $1,000 stipend. Thank you from EP!C and a Reminder

The EP!C Peer Health Educators want to thank all of the students who stopped by the table at Late Night Breakfast to sign the following pledge for a safe semester break:

I promise not to drink and drive during break or let any of my friends get behind the wheel impaired.
I will not ride in a car when the driver has been drinking.
I will focus on my driving when behind the wheel and not be distracted by mobile devices, music or my passengers.
I will watch out for my friends, take care of myself and do what I can to have a safe and healthy holiday break!

A good reminder for all of us as we enter the semester/holiday break. Enjoy and be safe!

Against the Professor Watchlist?

If so, AAUP has provided a way for you to act; here's the note they're circulating:

You've probably heard about the Professor Watchlist, a website that seeks to "expose and document college professors who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom."

This website poses a clear threat to academic freedom. Over the past century, such lists have been used to harass and intimidate faculty, and have a chilling effect on academic freedom and free speech.

Please join me in signing an open letter to Turning Point USA, the creators of the Watchlist, asking to be added to the list. Let's stand in solidarity with colleagues who have been singled out by this website: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/add-my-name-to-the-professor-watchlist?source=email&

I'll add that colleagues across the political spectrum at Notre Dame (not a hotbed of radicalism) have banded together to defend two of their own: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2016/12/08/a-twist-on-controversial-professor-watchlist-notre-dame-academics-want-their-names-added/?postshare=1401481203685583&tid=ss_fb&utm_term=.cb60c8f2ae56

You don't have to be an AAUP member to participate. Please join me in signing and spread the word.
