Teaching and Learning

Scholarship and Teaching Faculty Panel - Friday

Are teaching and scholarship two distinct activities for faculty? Or can they be mutually sustaining endeavors? How do faculty manage these responsibilities at Augsburg? If you are thinking about these questions, our panel of CTL scholarship grant recipients, may be able to shed some light. Three faculty from a diverse scholarly background including religion, theatre, and creative writing will share their approach to integrating scholarship and teaching at Augsburg. The goal of this panel is to share stories and create a community of scholars who are interested in creating ways to combine their scholarship and teaching.

This is a brown bag event – you are invited to bring your lunch and eat while you hear stories from your colleagues. The panel will include Stephan Clark (English), Beliza Torres Narvaez (Theater), and Lori B. Hale (Religion).

Afro Deli closing on West Bank on 11/17

From Mohamed Mohamed at forums.e-democracy.org about Afro Deli...

It is with great sadness that we announce that our location in the West Bank will be closing on November 17th, 2016. We will still provide catering though!

We couldn't be more grateful for the community that supported us and made us into the strong, people-centered business that we are today. As one door closes, there are many doors opening with exciting new opportunities.

First, Afro Deli will be opening a new location in Stadium Village at 720 Washington Avenue SE, in the former Dairy Queen space. Second, we're committed to coming back to the West Bank and will be announcing our plans soon. We have made some great friends over the years and we have so much to give back to the West Bank community that helped us get where we are today. Long story short, we're family so the West Bank hasn't seen the last of us. Afro Deli will return even better!

If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for updates at www.afrodeli.com/updates so you don't miss any news or information about our new location's opening celebration.
Thanks again for your love and support. We love our community and we look forward to improving every day to live up to your hopes and standards.

Onward!

2016 Queer Up the Polls

TODAY accompany friends and colleagues to the polls at 4:30pm in OGC 100. Queer Pride Alliance will offer a quick refresher session on how the voting process and voter registration will work and from there attend the Christensen Center polling station together.

This event is perfect for first time voters and those concerned with how marginalized people are often kept out of the political process. The event will ensure everyone can engage in the political process without fear of intimidation because of their appearance, lack of knowledge about the process, or anxiety surrounding candidates, accessible voting locations, and more. No need to be a QPA member to attend - just LGBTQIA or an ally!

If you registered to vote with your Augsburg dorm address as your home address or live in Augsburg's district, this event is for you! If not, you may still tag along to support - it will be more than welcome.
