Stephen Geffre Transitions from Staff Photographer

Stephen Geffre has accepted an adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Art to teach photography. At the same time, he will be bringing his 13 years of service as Augsburg's photographer, both as a contractor and a staff member, to a close.

Stephen leaves the marketing department with a tremendous library of photos and videos that are critical to telling Augsburg's story in a crowded market. His passion for avoiding visual clichés and authentically conveying Augsburg's distinctions has served us incredibly well and will be a tremendous foundation for future contributors to build on. Thanks to Stephen for sharing his artistic talent with Augsburg College.

Stephen's last day in marketing and communications will be August 12, and he will take on his new role August 15.

Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Harrison Neighborhood Association invite everyone from throughout the Metro to the 14th Annual Block Party on Wed., Aug. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at Redeemer, 1800 Glenwood Ave., Minneapolis. Join us for free, delicious foods, including produce from the community garden and fresh, homemade pizza from the Harrison neighborhood outdoor bread oven. The "Annual Block Party brings neighbors together in an event that inspires and grows wonderful relationships and ongoing engagement among North Minneapolis neighbors and friends from surrounding communities," says Kelly Chatman, Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, which has been a vital part of the Harrison neighborhood for over 100 years and its non-profit partner, Redeemer Center for Life, has been active there nearly 20 years. "With our neighbors and partners, Redeemer offers attainable housing, health programs, and entrepreneurial opportunities that break the cycle of poverty and open a door to new possibilities, adds Chatman. "Together, we advance the vision of a beloved community, where everybody matters, each child is valued, and the world is a place of safety and belonging."

Redeemer values and invests in children and youth by providing programs that offer rich educational opportunities, leadership development, and employment readiness. It offers safe places of belonging through shared spaces such as, the Venture North Bike and Coffee shop, Harrison Healing Harmony open mic nights, community garden, outdoor bread oven, Health Commons, and Living Room. More than 800 people attend the Annual Block Party hosted by Redeemer, the Harrison Neighborhood Association, and their many partners. Bring an appetite and be ready for fun.
