Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Lot A and D Closure

The Department of Public Safety and Facilities Management will be closing Lot A and Lot D on Tuesday, August 2 at 6 a.m. until Wednesday, August 3 at 6 a.m. This closure is in support of the replacement of curbs and sidewalks on 21st Avenue South.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause the Augsburg College Community.

Hagfors Center Construction Reaches 3-Month Mark

Construction on the Norman and Evangeline Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion is now at the three-month mark! A summary of expected construction activities for this week is posted on http://www.augsburg.edu/hagforscenter/construction-project-updates . Today's post includes the following:

[1] Photo of the construction site from this morning, Monday, August 1
[2] Finishing the ground-level slab
[3] Footing work
[4] Preparation for second-floor concrete pours next week
[5] Utility pole removal
[6] Security lighting installation
[7] Work on the west side of Oren Gateway Center

As with any major construction project, weekly work activities may be affected by weather, crew availability, project sequencing, and other factors. Please watch Amail for any changed activities that may impact the campus community.

Farewell Gathering for Liz Bassani - TODAY

Please stop by Human Resources (Room 19, Memorial Hall) today from 2-3 p.m. to say farewell to Liz Bassani, Sr. Recruiter. Liz has accepted an HR Generalist position with Normandale Community College.

Please join us in thanking Liz for her 13 years of service to Augsburg College. Refreshments will be served.

Einsteins is open from 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Nabo is open from 4-8 p.m.

The Commons is open from 7:15-8:30 a.m. for Breakfast, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for Lunch, and 5-6 p.m. for Dinner.

August is Black Philanthropy Month

The arrival of August marks the start of Black Philanthropy Month (BPM). BPM is a multimedia campaign to inform, involve, inspire and invest in Black philanthropic leadership. It is led by the founder, Jackie Copeland-Carson, PhD, and a committee of dedicated activists. This year's focal concept and theme is Elevating A Culture of Giving.

To prepare for the launch of Black Philanthropy Month, be sure to do the following:
-Get more information at the website http://www.blackphilanthropymonth.com/
-Sign up to receive the blog in your email during August and continuing throughout the year. The new Black Philanthropy Month blog will highlight news, BPM Featured Events and more from communities across the country and globally.
-"Like" the Facebook page to follow posts and also use #BPM2016 for updates and happenings on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
-Go to the Shareables folder on Dropbox.com to download a current media release, social media badges, sample tweets, the BPM Participant Guide, and other items to help you engage with your peers, in your community, and across the world.
