Register Now to Present at Zyzzogeton
Zyzzogeton 2016 Registration Deadline is March 10!
Zyzzogeton, Augsburg's annual student research symposium, will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 3-5 p.m. in Hoversten Chapel.
Students who plan to present their research or creative activity at this poster session will need to register and submit an abstract online at www.augsburg.edu/urgo by March 10 (click maroon box on right side of URGO homepage). Please work closely with your research mentors on your poster.
URGO and McNair will be hosting a Research Poster workshop where you can bring your working draft and receive one-on-one feedback and help on Wednesday, March 23, from 4:30-6 p.m. in SVE 204. We will be providing dinner, so please RSVP to urgo@augsburg.edu if you plan to come.

10-day Fellowship in Israel App Due Tuesday
The MINNE Fellows program will select one Augsburg student for a free 10-day fellowship in Israel from May 2-13, 2016. The goal of the program is to foster greater understanding between people and to educate college students about the Holocaust. The Minneapolis Jewish Federation and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) will arrange for fellows to tour Israel with Israeli peers. The visit to Israel will include a tour of Yad Vashem, Israel's national Holocaust museum, additional Holocaust educational programming as well as touring the sites of Israel.
The Minneapolis Jewish Federation and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) will arrange for fellows to tour Israel with Israeli peers.
-MINNE covers flight and land costs as well as granting students a $50/day per diem provided while the student is in Israel.
-Applicants must be U.S. citizens and registered for full time classes at Augsburg with at least one year left on campus. Students must be sophomores or above with a 3.0+ GPA.

Many courses offer students and faculty the opportunity to discuss difficult issues and enhance student learning through the intellectual give-and-take of an engaged conversation, but what if those conversations turn personal or angry? How can you assist learners to actively challenge and engage ideas and issues, not each other (or you)? This workshop is intended to assist participants in identifying their goals for using classroom discussions and then discuss models for how to teach learners how to productively engage in difficult discussions.
AugStories: On Being a Scholar
Next Wednesday, take an hour to listen to, learn from, and support three of your esteemed colleagues as they share personal narratives behind their scholarship. Hear tales of passion and adventure, trial and tribulation, and perhaps even good fortune and success! Each scholar will present for 15 minutes.

Scholastic Connections Applications Available
Scholarship Opportunity for High-Achieving, Undergraduate Students of Color
Applications are now being accepted for Scholastic Connections for 2015-16. Successful applicants for 5 available positions will receive a $5000 scholarship and be paired with an alum of color who will serve as the student's mentor.

Students who receive full tuition scholarships: Promise Scholars, Act 6 Scholars, full tuition President Scholars, etc. are NOT eligible for SC.

Augsburg Senior Leadership Society
This year, Augsburg College is launching the Augsburg Senior Leadership Society. This society will recognize graduating seniors for their co-curricular leadership contributions during their tenure at Augsburg College.
To qualify, students must demonstrate growth and development in seven categories: Academic and Life Skills Competence, Civic Engagement, Critical Thinking, Faith and Values, Intentional Diversity, Leadership Exploration and Development, and Thoughtful Stewardship.
Students must be graduating seniors (April or December 2016), have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, be in good academic and conduct status with the College, have demonstrated growth in the areas above, and have demonstrated leadership contributions through engagement in student organizations, campus activities, or college-sponsored or college-affiliated programs.
A resume and essay must be turned into Michael Grewe (grewe@augsburg.edu) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11.

Professional Development Opportunity at UHG
UnitedHealth Group's 2016 Campus Talent Summit provides first and second year students the opportunity to learn about career paths while building critical business skills for the future workforce. The program, which takes place April-August 2016, includes a corporate site visit, virtual mentoring program, and business focused webinars.
To be eligible to apply, students must be:
-Currently be a freshman or sophomore with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
-Majoring in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS or related business field.
-Demonstrate involvement in diversity/community activities and/or on-campus student organizations.
-Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
-Summit a resume and an unofficial transcript
-Complete a digital introduction
-Be able to participate in all 4 program segments

Interfaith Scholars participate in a yearlong academic seminar (407/408) on interfaith dialogue and action led by Professor Matt Maruggi and Pastor Sonja Hagander, earn 4 upper division semester credits in the Religion Department, and receive a $2,000 scholarship.

These awards recognize student leaders and student organizations for their innovative and outstanding leadership during this academic year. Recipients will be honored at the 17th Annual Augsburg Leadership Awards on Tuesday, April 5 from 5-7 pm in Hoversten Chapel.
All students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members are strongly encouraged to submit nominations; self-nominations are also encouraged. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 11 by 5:00 p.m.

Mentor for Augsburg College Youth Theology Institute (ACYTI)
Current students - Are you interested in growing in your faith, being a role model and positive influence for high school youth, and developing meaningful relationships? If so, then we've got the perfect job for you!
DETAILS
Augsburg College Youth Theology Institute (ACYTI) is a week-long experience for Senior High students to critically engage in theological inquiry and faith exploration on the campus of the college. Classroom learning, worship opportunities, urban exposure, and community building are all components of the program.
An ACYTI Mentor serves a vital role in the Youth Theology Institute by helping to implement programs and cultivate community as faith leaders working with the Senior High youth participants. A mentor must be able to participate in training beforehand and be available during the full week of ACYTI, be willing to develop healthy relationships with the participants, exhibit leadership skills to faithfully guide participants in learning, worship, and fellowship activities, prepare and lead at least one- 20 minute worship experience and one afternoon or evening activity during ACYTI, enforce rules and boundaries to keep participants safe, and collaborate with other staff and mentors to support other activities throughout the week of ACYTI.
Required Experience:
We are looking for mentors that have leadership experience with children/youth, someone who models a vibrant Christian faith that seeks meaning, trusts God, and serves the neighbor, worship leadership skills and/or musical abilities are desirable, but not required, and a mentor that is comfortable leading and guiding high school students who may only be a few years younger than the mentors.

Christensen Scholars participate in a yearlong academic seminar (REL 405/406) led by Professor Mark Tranvik, earn four upper division semester credits in the Religion Department, and receive a $2,000 scholarship. The 2016-17 seminar will explore great stories of faith. It is designed for those with a lively sense of curiosity and a desire to talk about "big questions" involving God, evil, doubt, salvation, and vocation.

The Bonner Leaders Program is a work-study focused on student development through direct engagement in the community. Bonner Leaders work in the community to address social issues such as education, homelessness, racial justice and poverty. Students attend regular meetings to reflect on their work in the community together. They focus on creating a greater understanding of campus-community collaboration as well as engaging other students in the important work to be done in the community.

As previously announced, Augsburg College is participating in the 2016 Great Colleges to Work For survey. The survey opens Monday, February 22 and will remain open until Friday, March 4. Eligible participants will receive an email from ModernThink which will contain a survey invitation and link to the survey.
