Study Abroad/Study Away Info Sessions Daily
Interested in an off-campus study experience, somewhere else in the US, or around the world? Get started by attending one of our daily info sessions! These sessions cover the basics about finances, scholarships, academics, and how to find the right program for you - and it takes only 20 minutes! No need for an appointment, just stop by our office in the lower level of Christensen at the times below.

Fall Internship Registration
The deadline for fall internship registration is Monday, September 14th. If you have an internship for the fall term that you would like to register, please complete the following steps:
* Academic Internships for 2 or 4 credits: http://www.augsburg.edu/strommen/internships/internship-registration/
* Non-credit internships for Augsburg Experience only: http://www.augsburg.edu/strommen/internships/non-credit-internships/
Students who wish to register an internship for fall term must also attend one of the following internship orientation/registration sessions in the Strommen Center (Christensen Center, Suite 100). Students with an internship seminar course (i.e. PSY400, SOC399, BUS397/399) do NOT need to attend this session, all other students are required to attend one of these sessions:
* Friday, September 4th at 11:00am
* Tuesday September 8th at 9:30am
* Thursday September 10th at 2:30pm
* Friday, September 11th at 8:15am & 3:00pm

While Supplies Last - Renaissance Fest Tickets for Sale
Augsburg Office of Human Resources is pleased to offer discounted 2015 Renaissance Festival tickets available for purchase starting Monday, August 10, 2015 in Human Resources. Tickets can be purchased by check or cash. If paying by cash, please be sure to have exact amount.
The Renaissance Festival is open weekends, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., rain or shine, August 22nd through October 4th. The festival will also be open on Labor Day on September 7th and Festival Friday on October 2nd. Parking is free.

New Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program
It is with great pride that I announce the launch of Augsburg College’s first Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program. The Certificate Program is designed to help faculty and staff continue to grow in their intercultural competence and to build the awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to create more inclusive spaces inside and outside of the classroom. The Certificate Program offers participants the opportunity to further develop skills necessary for diversity and inclusion work, access to cross-culturally valid assessment tools, direct experience effectively communicating across differences, and a better understanding of institutionally-based bias and microaggressions faced by marginalized communities.
In order to complete the Certificate Program and receive the certificate, participants must complete 18 hours of inclusion-based training. After participants complete the program, they have the option of completing an additional 6 hours to earn advanced standing in the Program. Certificate Program participants will receive their certificate at the end of the academic year in which their program was completed and will be recognized at either the Annual Faculty Recognition Luncheon or the Annual Staff Appreciation Awards and the Annual May Creating an Inclusive Campus Conference.

Career Quick Stop Hours Begin Next Week
Fall 2015 Career Quick Stop hours:
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:30-4:00 p.m.
About Quick Stop:
These drop-in hours are designed to expand access to career coaches and to accommodate impromptu student career questions as they arise. During Quick Stop hours students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis for brief, 15-minute drop-in appointments. These times are meant for quick career questions, brief resume or cover letter reviews, or help getting started with an internship or job search.
Quick Stop is not intended to replace longer appointments, and we regret we cannot accommodate career assessment requests during Quick Stop hours (please schedule an individual appointment: 612-330-1148).

In an effort to enhance and support Augsburg College Diversity and Inclusion Plan initiatives, create one central location to house information and resources concerning diversity and inclusion at Augsburg, introduce the new Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program, provide a calendar highlighting inclusion-based workshops and events and more, Augsburg's current Diversity and Inclusion web page has been transformed into a revamped, multi-use, and multi-functional website. The Commons is open from 7:30am-7:00pm. Market Place is serving Chicken Breast with Oriental Dressing, Roasted Asparagus with Lemon and Dill, Potato Gratin, and Broccoli with Parmesan. Vege is serving Enchilada Bake with Vegan Cheese and Beef, Brown Rice with Lime and Cilantro, Carrots with Sesame Dressing, and Green Beans with Toasted Pumpkin Seeds.

Theater Department - Musicians Wanted

The Theater Department is looking for musicians, particularly accordion players or one-person bands, but anything will do, to collaborate and perform in this fall’s production of The Imaginary Invalid.

Film Sunday at Parkway Re: Conquest of Americas
Documentary Film Premiere this Sunday at the Parkway Theater featuring The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking The Domination Code.
This powerful and landmark documentary "The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking The Domination Code" is a result of the collaborative efforts by Dakota filmmaker and Director Sheldon Wolfchild and Co-Producer Steven Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape). The film, based on Newcomb’s thirty years of research, and his book Pagans in the Promised Land: Decoding the Doctrine of Christian Discovery (Fulcrum, 2008), brings to the big screen an amazing and little known story:
The first Christian people to locate lands inhabited by non-Christians ("infidels, heathens, and savages") claimed the right to assert a right of domination to be in themselves. On the basis of this religiously premised argument, the U.S. Supreme Court has defined the land title of the Indian nations as a "mere right of occupancy" subject to a right of domination on the part of the United States. The first "Christian people" that claimed "ultimate dominion," said the Supreme Court, could grant away the soil while yet it was still in the possession of the "natives, who were heathens."
The film calls upon the Holy See at the Vatican to revoke the papal decrees that set into motion the domination system, and points out that the values and teachings of original nations are a sacred path for all Life.
