News about ENL & GSWS Prof. Doug Green
D. E. (Doug) Green's poem, "À la mode de Kahlo," is included in Recognize: The Voices of Bisexual Men, an anthology edited by activist Robyn Ochs and Dr. Herukhuti. The book is nominated for a 2015 Lambda Literary Award in the Bisexual Nonfiction category, along with NYT columnist Charles Blow's very well-received new memoir Fire in My Bones and Alan Cummings' Not My Father's Son: A Memoir http://www.lambdaliterary.org/features/news/03/04/the-27th-annual-lambda-literary-award-finalists/.
In addition, last year's Lake/Sky: An Homage to Mark Rothko--an exhibit catalog by photographer Peter Sorel (still photographer for Life of Pi and many other films) with poems by D. E. Green--is now available on Amazon. And Doug's poem "Triptych" has just appeared in the MN SELCO (Southeastern Libraries Cooperating) annual poetic anthology Poetic Strokes 2015.
The Shakespeare scholar who goes by the unabbreviated Douglas E. Green has just been published in Cambridge UP's Shakespeare on the University Stage (2015). http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/literature/renaissance-and-early-modern-literature/shakespeare-university-stage. His article "The Small-college Stage: Is There Still Room for Shakespeare?" includes, as a central part of its analysis, an extensive discussion of the Augsburg Theater Department's revised curriculum and programming.
And finally Doug, in a combined creative and scholarly endeavor, just presented an adaptation "in the Shakespearean style" of two acts of Seneca's Latin tragedy Thyestes at the Shakespeare Association of America in Vancouver in early April for a workshop on Shakespearean Scene-Making. This week he is attending the AWP writers conference in Minneapolis.
