Calling All Students

Hello to all my fellow Auggies! My name is Reies Romero and I am the Student Advocate for the Augsburg Day Student Government. I am also the Student Representative for the search committee to find a new DPS director. I am reaching out to fellow students who would be interested in engaging, asking questions, getting to know a possible new DPS director! There are community times set up to do so on the following dates! The search committee has narrowed it down to 4 candidates and the following dates are when they are set to come to campus! Community time is set up for students to meet them!

Teaching and Learning

Writing Lab Is Open Through SS II

Regular summer hours in the Writing Lab have now resumed and will continue through Thursday, August 21. Again, summer hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 4:30-7 p.m.

The Lab is located in Lindell Library, street level, just left of the circulation desk. Tutors are on duty to help Augsburg students at any stage of their writing process.

Registration Open Now: Wellness Challenge

Green Plate Club

Work toward your personal Health Goal by adding green vegetables to your plate! The Green Plate Club Challenge will help you keep pace with your peers as you eat more nutrient-rich, green vegetables. This challenge is a part of the Active Wellness program. It is open to ALL Faculty and Staff.

Interested in some friendly competition with your coworkers?

How to participate:
- Eat at least one serving of green vegetables five days each week for three weeks (15 total days)
- Record your participation at www.myinteractivehealth.com/MyHealthTools
Use the Fruit and Veggie Tracker on the Challenge Dashboard or the Food Log to enter the vegetables you've eaten

For participants that completed a Biometric screening as a part of our Active Wellness Program, successful completion of the Green Plate Club Challenge will earn you 50 points towards reaching your personal Health Goal to be eligible for the 2015 incentive.

Event Announcements

First Common Table Open Mic Tonight

TONIGHT: Thursday, July 10 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Come join Common Table organizers K Taylor, Amal Warsame and Rachel Svanoe for our first Cedar Riverside Open Mic night! This Open Mic will feature Augsburg student Atlese Robinson, South High student Sisco, and Flowso. There will be spoken word, singing, poetry, rap, and more! Come perform something or just enjoy light refreshments and local talent.

Also happening at the Common Table this week:

Saturday, July 12: World Cup Match, 3 p.m.

Sunday, July 13: World Cup Match, 2 p.m.

(World Cup Matches will be hosted by Trinity Congregation and they are open to everyone!)

The Common Table is at 2001 Riverside Ave., in the basement of the Trinity building with the murals on it - across from Afro Deli.

MFA Summer Residency - Readings and Screenings

The MFA in Creative Writing 2014 Summer Residency will be held from Thursday, July 17 through Sunday, July 27. Please join us in welcoming our very talented students and acclaimed writers to campus for this festival of craft talks, workshops, evening readings and more. This summer's visitors include Pulitzer prize-winning science journalist Deborah Blum; playwright Kristoffer Diaz, poet/memoirist Alex Lemon, screenwriter Bill Wheeler and author Pam Houston. They will be joining our own MFA mentors, Nicole Brending, Stephan Eirik Clark, Cass Dalglish, Jack El-Hai, Heid Erdrich, John Gaterud, Sarah Myers, Cary Waterman and Steven Wingate.

We invite you to join us for the evening readings/screenings and receptions, at which featured writers will be available to sign their works. All events begin at 7:30 p.m., and the public is invited.
