Fiscal 2014-2015 Budget Training

Due to the Arctic cold and school closure, we did not have the training session last Monday.

The second of three training sessions will be held on Thursday, January 16 in Oren Gateway Center suite 100 between 10:00-11:00 a.m.

This training is designed to help new budget managers navigate the budget cycle and introduce them to the Excel budget templates. However, all budget managers are welcome. Please note if you are already familiar with this process, nothing has changed from last year.

As a reminder, the divisional leadership will review individual budgets the week of February 3rd. If you think you'll need an extension, please contact your VP/Dean. Leadership will submit finalized budgets to Finance on February 10

The last training session will be held Wednesday, January 29 between 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Timekeeping for Staff Due to Weather Day

How to mark your weather day on the timekeeping system for all benefits eligible staff employees.

When the normal campus operations were suspended and the campus was closed due to weather on Monday, January 6, certain "essential services" still needed to be maintained. Your manager should have contacted you if you were needed to work as part of the essential services.

Hourly staff members who were required to report to work on Monday receive time and one-half pay for the hours worked on that day. This should be recorded on your time card by selecting the pay code OT-Staff. You should then enter the appropriate number of hours you actually worked under the Amount column for that day. If you worked less hours than normally scheduled, you should be recording those additional hours under the pay code of Weather and the number of total hours under the Amount column.

Hourly employees who were scheduled to work but told not to report to work will be paid the number of hours they would normally be scheduled to work. This should be recorded on your time card by selecting the pay code Weather. You should then enter the number of hours you would have been scheduled to work under the Amount column for that day. Exempt (salaried) employees are not required to record hours for that day.

Employees who were already scheduled to be on leave are to use their accrued leave for that day. Employees who were not scheduled that day will not receive pay.

Employees were expected to be at work during their regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, January 7. If an employee was not able to make it to work, the employee must make up the lost work time during the same work week or use accrued vacation or floating holiday time.

If you have any questions, please contact Theresa Gade in HR at X1052.

You can submit them by going to http://inside.augsburg.edu/ and clicking "Submit Calendar Item" under the "Augnet Services" menu.

If you have several events to submit at once, or one event that will recur several times over the course of the semester, please email or call Joe Mann - mannj@augsburg.edu or ext. 1157 - to talk about alternate ways of submitting those.

Auditions for Peer Gynt, All Students Are Welcome

The Augsburg Theater Department, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota's BA Theater Performance Program, will hold auditions for its main stage production of Peer Gynt. Students from each department will work closely with the project leaders, Darcey Engen, Chair and Associate Professor of Theater at Augsburg College and Luverne Seifert, Head of BA Theater Performance at the University of Minnesota, to create an innovative, site specific, outdoor production at the University of Minnesota Arboretum in Chaska, Minnesota. This adaptation of Ibsen's classic is an exploration of this epic Norwegian play and how it reflects culture, history and mythology.

All Augsburg students are welcome to audition! As many as 20 rolls will be cast, including actors, musicians, singers and composers.

Auditions will be held in the Ailene Cole Green Room, located in Foss Center, on:
Tuesday, January 21 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and
Wednesday, January 22 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
There will be no callbacks.

Please prepare a single, one minute monologue. It can be anything--contemporary, classic, poetic, realistic, comedic, serious, etc. It can even be a poem. It is preferable that it be memorized.

Rehearsals begin February 10 and go through April 9; performance dates are April 10-13.

Further information, as well as audition sign-up sheets are posted on the Tjornhom-Nelson Theater door in the Atrium of the Foss Center.

If you have any questions about the production, auditions, or need assistance, please contact Darcey Engen, X1549.

Free File Cabinet

I got a sturdy, brown, four-drawer file cabinet from the Augsburg free office furniture sale a couple years ago. I am settled in my new home now and find I do not need it anymore. I would like to pass it along for free (again) to someone who will come and pick it up from my south Minneapolis home.
