More Introductions - SC Scholars
Kiran Anderson - Continuing Scholar
I am Kiran. I am adopted from India and mostly grew up in Maple Grove, MN I am a senior at Augsburg this year. I am majoring in sociology with the intention of working with homeless families. I have been involved with the StepUp program, in a theater production and volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church's adult tutoring program.
I have made lots of new friends in this program (Scholastic Connections). I have also learned about setting goals, being accountable and thinking about my next step after college in terms of a career and how to apply all of the knowledge and experience I have heard from others in this program. I am looking forward to working with my mentor, Kathy. I am also looking forward to learning more about the transition from college to the opportunities outside of Augsburg where I can be of service.
Jasmine Grika - Continuing Scholar
I grew up in Minneapolis am enrolled in Cheyenne River Lakota Sioux nation and am also Ojibwe. I am a senior in the BSW program. After college I want to work a bit and then enter a masters program and then law. My academic program, field work and nannying job prevent me from being involved more on campus. This past year I feel I gained a better sense of my own identity and learned the value of reflection. This year I'm looking forward to meeting new people and attending more gatherings.

Rehearsals will begin November 11th, 2013 and performance dates are January 31st - February 9th.
Description of Antigonick:
In her highly innovative translations of ancient plays, acclaimed poet Anne Carson "combines contemporary language with the traditional structures and rhetoric of Greek tragedy, opening up [ancient tales] . . .to a modern audience. . ." In Antigonick, Carson emphasizes the importance of time-and timing-in tragedy, by introducing a silent character, Nick, who is always on stage measuring things while the events of the play unfold. Antigone is "here given an entirely fresh language and presentation."
