Library Hours During Spring Break

Lindell Library hours March 15 – 24

While Day students are on Spring Break, we're adjusting hours in order to be open for Augsburg for Adult students. See you in the library!!

Friday March 15 8:00 am – 7:00 pm
Saturday March 16 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday March 17 Noon – 6:00 pm
Monday – Thursday March 18-21 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
Friday March 22 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
Saturday March 23 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday March 24 Noon – Midnight

Spring Break and Easter Break Hours in the WL

The WL will maintain its regular hours through Friday, March 15, before spring break and resume its schedule on Sunday, March 24. During the week of spring break, hours will be curtailed in accordance with the library schedule. Here is the schedule for the week of spring break:

Friday, March 15: 4:30 - 7 p.m.

Tuesday and Thursday, March 19 and 21: 6 - 9 p.m.

Sunday, March 24: 5 - 8 p.m.

For the Easter break, the WL will maintain regular hours through 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. The Lab will be closed on Good Friday, March 29, and Easter Sunday, March 31. Regular hours will resume on Monday, April 1.

Dining Services

Nabo:
Nabo is offering a meal replacement special, one meal plan meal per week can be used to purchase the special of the day at Nabo from 1:30 p.m. to close.

The special today is a Chicken and Broccoli Bowl served with a fountain drink.

Einstein Bros:
Stop in and try one of our Egg White Bagel Thin Sandwiches. We are also featuring a combo option with a sandwich and a coffee.

The Commons:
In observation of Lent we will be having Fish every Friday starting Friday, Feb. 15.


Dining Services hours for today are as follows:
Einsteins: 7:30am-7:00pm
Nabo: 7:30am-7:00pm
Commons: 7:30am-1:30pm

Spring Break Hours:
The Commons will remain closed during break and will reopen Sunday March 24th for dinner at 5:00pm.

WEC Friday March 15: 7:30am-1:30pm and 4:00pm-9:00pm
WEC Saturday March 16th: 7:30am-5:00pm
WEC Sunday March 17th: 11:00am-3:00pm
Monday-Thursday March 18th-21st: 7:30am-1:30pm

Nabo:
WEC Saturday March 16th: 9:00am-2:00pm
WEC Sunday March 17th: 11:00am-4:00pm
Monday-Thursday March 18th-21st: Nabo will be closed.

Apply for the $7,500 Travelers EDGE Scholarship

Rising juniors and seniors who are alumni of St. Paul Public Schools are encouraged to apply for the Travelers EDGE Scholarship. In addition to receiving a $7,500 scholarship, recipients also benefit from numerous professional development opportunities and get an inside look at the Insurance and Financial Services industry, including the chance to be considered for competitive internships.

Eligibility Criteria for the Travelers EDGE Scholarship include:
• Saint Paul Public High School alumni
• Full time undergraduate with junior or senior status enrolled in the Day program at Augsburg for the 2013-2014 school year
• Applicants may have any major, but should demonstrate interest in exploring careers in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry
• Minimum GPA of 2.5
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA

Cap and Gown Information

Cap and Gown Information
Graduating in May?

The deadline has passed to order online - If you ordered online, you may pick up your cap and gown on April 9 or any time afterward until graduation.
If your gown was not reserved by March 7, a $15.00 late charge will be added to the final cost of your cap and gown. You may stop in the bookstore to purchase your cap and gown on April 9 up until graduation. If you need special sizing, please contact me ASAP.

All May graduation regalia will be in the store ready to purchase on April 9!

Graduating in June?

Cap and Gowns must be reserved online by April 9.

You will not need to pay until you pick up at the store. Cap and gowns will be ready to purchase on May 11 at the WEC/Masters Grad Fair 11 a.m.-1 p.m. If you are unable to make it to the Grad Fair, you are able to pick up any time the store is open til graduation. If your gown is not reserved by April 9, a $15.00 late charge will be added to the final cost of your cap and gown.

Courageous Woman Award Nominations due TODAY

Do you know a woman who courageously strives for social justice and peace on campus or in the wider community? Someone who sees injustice and acts on it? Someone who raises her voice to champion women? If so, then nominate her for a Courageous Woman Award.

Award recipients are selected from a pool of nominations and receive a prize of $1,000. Anyone may propose a nominee but each individual may nominate only one woman per year. Eligible for nomination are women in the Augsburg student body, faculty, and staff as well as women from the Cedar Riverside neighborhood and the broader Twin Cities community. Nominations Needed for Christensen-Justice Award

Please nominate one Augsburg senior for the Marina Christensen-Justice Award.
The award honors a graduating senior who represents in a high degree Augsburg's motto: "Education for Service." The recipient must have demonstrated a dedication to the kind of community involvement that characterized the personal and professional life of Marina Christensen-Justice, who courageously and effectively reached out to bring equity and harmony to disadvantaged people and communities.

Please include examples of all off-campus, community related experiences this person has been a part of during their time at Augsburg. For example: service-learning experiences, internships, Bonner Leader Program participation, Campus Kitchen, and volunteer experiences.

PAID Environmental Education Internship

The Dodge Nature Center is a non-profit organization operating a 320 acre nature preserve within the city of West Saint Paul that provides environmental education and outdoor experiences for thousands of people each year, primarily K-8th grade students.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Education Intern include:
• Plan and teach summer day camp programs
• Present environmental education units to various audiences
• Prepare instructional materials for environmental education program units and day camps
• Provide daily care for the reptile and amphibian collection
• Assist with seasonal projects

Qualifications:
• Knowledge and interest in natural history and environmental education
• Enthusiasm for working with children in an outdoor setting
• 2+ years of college coursework in environmental studies, education, sciences, or a related field
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Satisfactory result of a background check

The position runs from June 6th to August 15th, 2013. Applicant must be available 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30-4:00.

The Ruel Harmon Scholarship awards an Augsburg College student up to $3,000 for a summer internship. To apply or receive more details on this opportunity, please contact:

Zyzzogeton Abstracts Due TODAY

This year's Zyzzogeton Research Symposium will take place on April 19 from 2-4 p.m. in Oren Gateway Center. Zyzzogeton is an opportunity for students to present a poster on research that they have conducted during the past year. Talk with your faculty advisor if you would like to present this year!

Students should submit their faculty-approved abstract to www.augsburg.edu/urgo/zyzzogeton by March 15.

Feedback on Graduation 2014 is Needed

The unified semester calendar, which starts in the 2013-2014 academic year, offers the opportunity to celebrate graduation with all Augsburg graduates over one weekend in May.

In order to collect feedback on graduation schedule options, a survey has been created to collect anonymous responses:

The survey responses will be collected through March 28, 2013. A decision will be made by President Pribbenow and Interim Dean John Schmit and communicated to the campus via A-Mail. The selected graduation schedule will take effect in May 2014.
