Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Crime Bulletin: Thefts on Campus

November 27th 2012: Thefts On Campus

Public Safety has received multiple reports of theft in the past week. Please take precautions to help prevent theft on our campus and protect your property. Details regarding the recent events are also below. If you have any information about these crimes, please report to Jesse Cashman at cashman@augsburg.edu

*Nov. 26th 4:30 p.m.: Victim states that while in a public campus space, someone tapped her on the shoulder; when she turned to look, her phone was taken out of her hand and the suspect ran.

*Nov. 26th at 11:25 a.m.: Resident student reports that Xbox and laptop are missing from the residence. There were no signs of forced entry into the space.

*Nov. 21st: Resident student invited acquaintances to room. Suspects stole Credit Card and laptop and fled campus.

*Nov. 19th: Food Service reported items missing. Video footage revealed suspects entering the area multiple times, leaving with food items.

Safety Tips

Immediately report any suspicious activity to the Minneapolis Police or Augsburg DPS.
Always lock your vehicle, office suite, residence room, and anything else that has a lock!

-Make sure to place valuables out of site if possible. Keep them in the trunk or on your person.

Keep your keys on your person at all times.
-Leave valuables, particularly jewelry, at home if it is not necessary to have them at your campus residence.
-Keep your door locked even when you're at home. It's easy for others to enter your residence without you knowing, particularly if you're in a back room or if your stereo or television is playing.
-Record the make, model, and serial number of valuables and keep the records in a safe place.
-Engrave your property with your driver license number.
-Report lost keys to your residence to housing staff immediately.
-Avoid walking while talking on the phone/texting as it decreases your awareness of your surroundings.

Augnet Discussion Forum on New Dean Search

As Augsburg engages in rigorous and difficult discussions around the budget and personnel decisions, the college community is reminded that there is an online forum for sharing (what we hope are constructive) points and questions on these important topics. There is now a Forum for discussing the search for a new Dean of the College, and contributions to that discussion are welcomed.

The discussion forums can be found on the Inside Augsburg page as the last item under "Augnet Services."

There is an encouraging and healthy resurgence of engagement from many on campus to our collective work to educate our students. For those unable to make some of the various public forums and discussions might consider contributing online.
