DNC Acceptance Speech Watch Party
With just weeks left until Election Day, President Obama will take the stage in Charlotte N.C. to address the Democratic National Convention. And Augsburg students will be there
in spirit. Come listen to the President's speech and then get ready to get to work.
We have two months to turn out students in a big way to vote for President Obama and Democrats up-and-down the ticket. We've come too far to turn back now.
Thursday, Sept. 6, 7 p.m. in Christensen Center Student Lounge (next to the mailboxes)
RSVP here: https://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gpd3yy
We'll see you there!
Oh! Don't forget to invite a few of your friends. The more Augsburg students that turn out to vote, the better chance POTUS has of being re-elected.

Ankita Deka Publishes on Global Human Rights
Dr. Ankita Deka's paper, "Local and Global Poverty: Insights Using a Rights-based Approach" is published in the current special issue of Advances in Social Work, which addresses Global Problems/Local Solutions. Dr. Deka's paper argues for the adoption of a rights-based framework in social work to address issues of endemic structural poverty. It also critiques traditional human rights perspectives in poverty alleviation. Congratulations Ankita!

Room/Board in Exchange for Household Help
My counterpart in communications at the UM Humphrey School is seeking a responsible student who would provide some household help for her parents in exchange for room/board. Details from Julie Lund are as follows:
My folks (Humphrey alumni) are looking for someone to live in their home with them and do cooking and light chores in exchange for free room and board. They live in Prospect Park, just two miles from campus, on the 16A bus line. Room = a bedroom, a semi-private bathroom, Internet access, and use of the kitchen. Board includes all meals. In exchange, they would like someone to cook and clean up after supper most evenings and do a few other small tasks, like carrying things to and from the basement. No house cleaning, snow shoveling, or other heavy lifting. They travel some, so taking care of the cat while they are away would be an occasional duty.
This opportunity is available immediately, with the possibility of continuing next summer and through next year. If interested, contact me at 612-590-0539 or julie@umn.edu.
