Public Safety and Facilities Announcements
Parking Lot B and E Closed on August 19 and 21
Parking Lots B and E (north and south of Urness and Mortensen) will be closed for parking lot maintenance on August 19 and 21.
August 19 - Sealing the entire parking lot pavement.
August 21 - Sealing the entire parking lot pavement.
Vehicles parked in these lots will be towed at the owner's expense in order to complete the work. Please park in other campus parking lots on these dates.
Orange signs will be posted at the parking Lot entrances as a reminder.

Get ready for fall with the new Moodle!
The version of Moodle for the 2012-2013 academic year brings significant changes. Discover what is different and which features will enhance your course objectives. Six possible days, 14 different sessions available, nine IT staff, two IT students -- we're serious!
Workshop schedule is repeated daily from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. August 14, 15, 16, 28, 29, 30. Opening session begins in Sverdrup Hall 202.

AugSTEM Scholarship Application Available
The AugSTEM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation, AugSTEM Scholars can receive up to $7,000 per year in financial support. Scholars also become a part of a vital STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for summer research, faculty mentoring, and career development.
The AugSTEM scholar award is designated for students who are within five semesters of graduating. Applicants must be full-time students in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics) with a 3.0 GPA within their major. This award is available for U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who demonstrate financial need via FAFSA. Students who began their college careers at community colleges are encouraged to consider applying for this scholarship.

Karen Howell is Leaving - Come Say Good-bye
Karen is leaving Augsburg for a new position at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. Please join us to wish her well at a Monday morning coffee break in the Education Department office suite (Sverdrup Hall "garden level"). Coffee and a treat will be available in the Education Department on Monday, August 20, from 10-11 a.m. A brief program will be held at 10:30 a.m. We hope you can make it.

Barb's work on behalf of the college's donors, particularly, those whose families have endowed scholarships, has helped to ensure that generous benefactors have a "joyful" giving experience and understand the deep impact of their donations on our students, the college, and ultimately in the communities in which our graduates serve and lead. Her eye for detail and commitment to honoring donor intent has been deeply valued by staff and donors alike. We will certainly miss our friend and colleague who has served the IA Division and the College well over these last 12 years.
Summer Fun at MathFest
Several members of the Augsburg mathematics department attended MathFest in Madison, Wis., in early August. Students Tyler Heaps and Karleen Stevens presented great talks on their summer research projects. Tyler’s presentation was honored as an MAA Outstanding Student Presentation. Please congratulate both Tyler and Karleen when you see them.
Faculty Su Dorée, Jody Sorensen, and John Zobitz were in Madison and busy as well. Among other activities, Su led a minicourse and participated in a panel discussion, John gave a talk, and Jody helped to judge student presentations.
