General Announcements

TRiO/SSS Summer Bridge 2012

Please join us in welcoming the 11th Annual Summer Bridge: Class of 2012.

Seventeen new Auggies will begin their journey at Augsburg College with TRiO/SSS Summer Bridge. This five-week academic program is offered to Augsburg first-year students who qualify for the TRiO/SSS program as first generation, low income, and/or having a disability, in addition to meeting academic need requirements. Summer Bridge runs Sunday, July 8, through Thursday, August 9, 2012.

Summer Bridge students will take their first two Augsburg courses: REL 100: Christian Vocation and the Search for Meaning taught by Lori Hale, and COM 111: Introduction to Public Speaking taught by Bob Groven. In addition to these courses, Summer Bridge students attend Supplemental Instruction sessions, workshops to learn more about Augsburg College and college life, as well as social and cultural enrichment activities. The students will develop a strong sense of community through learning and living together. The Summer Bridge program and TRiO/SSS are jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Education and Augsburg College.

A great deal of appreciation goes to everyone who continues to help us make this program a huge success every year.

Any questions about the program can be directed to the TRiO/SSS office by calling 612-330-1311 or emailing triosss@augsburg.edu. Visit our Web page at www.augsburg.edu/triosss

Mason Jars?

Campus Kitchen plans to start doing food preservation classes and canning next week using the produce from the farmers market. You'll see pickles and other items at the Farmers Market, and the sale of these will help fund our EBT and translation services at the market. To keep the project's costs low, we are looking for used Ball and Kerr canning jars (no lids or rings, just the glass). Do you have any that you would like to donate?
