Northstar Commuter Line Opens Monday, November 16
The new Northstar commuter line starts operation on Monday, November 16th with service from downtown Minneapolis to Big Lake with stops at Fridley, Coon Rapids, Anoka and Elk River. Payment ranges from $3.25 between stations to $7.00 to go the full distance to Big Lake. Tickets must be bought at the station with a combination of the use of cash, credit card and/or Metropass or Go-to College pass. If using your Metropass or Go-to Pass, they only are good for a value of $3.00 per purchase so additional money will have to be used to purchase a full fare ticket for your destination. You can add funds to your Metropass or Go-To Pass and deduct that amount from the pass as additional payment or you can use cash or a credit card for the additional money needed. Make sure you arrive at your station at least a half hour early the first day to allow time to become familiar with the ticket purchasing. Tickets cannot be bought on-board and if you attempt to ride without a valid ticket you can be fined $180.00. For detailed information about Northstar schedules and payment instructions go to: http://www.metrotransit.org/Northstar/riding.asp
Augsburg to Offer Doctor of Nursing Practice
It is with great excitement and anticipation that I announce that, at its October meeting The Higher Learning Commission approved Augsburg College to offer the degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice. Approved by the colleges Board of Regents last January, this approval is the culminating work of the Department of Nursing over the past two years.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice program was designed to respond to the rapidly changing environments in both nursing higher education and practice, requiring increased education for nursing practitioners. This professional practice doctorate will build on the strengths of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) programs.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice at Augsburg will provide a venue for the development of nursing students prepared to enter generalist and advanced transcultural nursing practice in the 21st century that is consistent with the colleges mission.
My thanks to Dr. Cheryl Leuning and the faculty and staff of the Department of Nursing on this success and for their diligent work on this proposal, but also for their dedication to the practice of nursing as Augsburg prepares the next generation of leaders in the nursing profession.
