No Trays in the Commons?
You may have noticed that there was no trays in the Commons Cafeteria yesterday, Tuesday, August 26. You may have thought to yourself: what happened?
Like many other campuses across the nation, A'viands has decided to follow suit in our continual commitment to sustainability, and we've adopted the "Trayless Tuesday" program. It has been proven at many other higher education institutions that going "trayless" has proven to reduce water usage, food waste, and electricity.
In its first day here at Augsburg ,we've already seen a 60% reduction in waste!
With Augsburg Dining we're always looking at the bigger picture, and this initiative is helping reduce landfill waste, cleaning chemicals, water usage, food waste, electricity, sewage and much more.
In the grand scheme of things, we want to help preserve our natural resources and reduce our carbon footprint. So with you're help, we hope the Augsburg family will embrace our new program with open arms.
