The Office of International Programs section of the Lilly Endowment grant provides an opportunity for faculty or staff to develop study abroad programs that include reflection on faith and vocation in a global context. This can be done in the context of a new course, a revised course, or a non-credit Augsburg Experience. Faculty /staff from departments that have not yet developed a course are encouraged to apply and will be prioritized for funding.

This semester, the Diversity and Global Awareness Collaborative is hosting a series of conversations related to the Gillaspy/Stinson demographic and economic presentation. I look forward to facilitating a conversation focusing on diversity and teaching & learning, which will be held on Wednesday, November 29, noon-1 p.m. in the Marshall Room.

Just a reminder that Augsburg College faculty are invited to submit proposals for short-term study abroad programs for the 2007-08 academic year now through December 15. Short-term programs can take place in January (before the Day spring semester begins) or in the Summer terms, and can be open to Day, WEC, Graduate, summer school students, or some combination of these. Proposal instructions and forms, as well as guidelines on applying for Lilly Endowment funding are available in the Office of International Programs public folder under Augsburg Abroad. The deadline for completed proposals is December 15.

The Anne Pederson Women's Resource Center is hosting its annual Spa Day on Friday December 15 from noon to 4 p.m. in Sverdrup 207 (The Anne Pederson Women's Resource Center). The deadline for 2007 re-enrollment benefits change forms is this Thursday, November 30.
Message: Go-To College transit passes for winter semester go on sale on December 14. All students wishing to get maximum benefit from the Go-To College Pass program can purchase their passes as early as December 14 for only $150. Monthly passes at the regular price would be $304. Go-To passes are good for light rail and buses - rush hour or regular times. Passes can be purchased at the service counters at Sverdrup 100 during normal business hours.

Andrea Wojtanowicz, Augsburg Abroad short term program coordinator, co-presented a day-long workshop at the NAFSA Region IV Conference in St. Louis, MO, on November 12. The workshop was entitled: "Developing and Administering Quality Short-Term Education Abroad Programs." Co-presenters in the workshop were Kathy Tuma, of St. Olaf College and Janis Perkins, of the University of Iowa.
