November is National Native American Heritage month. Did you know there are approximately 555 federally recognized tribes in the US? Each have their own language, culture and traditions.

The Department of Campus Activities and Orientation as well as LGBTQIA Student Services requests your presence at our monthly panel series, "Soup & Sexuality." This series will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month (excluding the month of January) in the Century Room.

Augsburg Abroad in the Office of International Programs invites Augsburg College faculty to submit proposals for short-term study abroad programs for the 2007-08 academic year. Short-Term Programs can take place in January (before the Day spring semester begins) or in the Summer Terms, and can be open to Day, WEC, Graduate, summer school students, or some combination of these. Proposal instructions, forms, and guidelines are available in the Office of International Programs public folder under Augsburg Abroad. The deadline for completed proposals is December 15.

The Campus Kitchens Project will be tabling in Christensen from 11-1 on Thursdsay the 2nd, Friday the 3rd and Monday the 6th in order to kick off its "Turkeypalooza" month. We will be collecting food and cash donations to be used throughout the month for special meals. On the 9th, we are asking that people "take their turkeys to work" by donating turkeys for this event!

In Minnesota, food shelf usage has increased by 45% in the last five years.
Message: A reminder as we approach the end of the 2006 calendar year. Floating holidays need to be used each year or they will be lost. Please plan ahead and work with your supervisor to schedule these days in order to avoid missing out on this benefit. Also please remember that floating holidays must be taken in whole day increments. If you have further questions please call Mark at x1783.

From 11 a.m. today 1 to 11 a.m. tomorrow the members of KAUG will speak for 24 hours without stopping! The second annual KAUG Filibuster will take place in the Christensen Center until 10 p.m., and then will move to the Urness/Mort Lobby until the early morning, then back to the Christensen Center for the rest. Pay KAUG $1 to talk about the topic of your choice for a minute, or pay KAUG $2 to shut up for a minute! There will be lots of prizes given away so make sure to stop by.

The Augsburg Battle of the Bands will take place on Friday, Nov. 10 from 7-10 p.m. There will be BIG PRIZES for the winning band! Auditions will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 4-7 p.m. Bands can sign-up at http://www.augsburg.edu/ASAC. Bands must have at least one Augsburg member. Prepare 2-3 songs for the audition.

Storytelling Festival November 11 Message: I am pleased to be involved for the sixth year in a row with an annual storytelling festival A Day Stuffed With Stories to be held at Open Book on November 11. Free events during the day will run the gamut from favorite childrens entertainers to popular slam/spoken word artists and musicians. The evening concert with storytelling for adults will be hosted by Fringe Festival favorite Nancy Donoval, and will feature Charlie Bethel, Danielle Daniel, Mike Mann, Paula Reed Nancarrow, and Jerry Wellik.
