Message: Meet artists Jane Frees-Kluth and Mary Bergs this evening as we celebrate the opening of two new art exhibitions from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Frees-Kluth's ceramic sculpture is featured in "Anthropoids" in the Gage Family Art Gallery, and Bergs' found object installation is highlighted in "Continuum" in the Christenensen Center Art Gallery.
Message:
Mardi Gras Madrigals is a medieval feast celebrating Mardi Gras in its original (medieval) sense. It will have medieval food, jugglers, storytellers, games, and music, including performances by madrigal choirs from Anoka, Como Park, and Wayzata high schools, as well as Augsburg's own Gospel Praise Singers. It's an evening of good food and family fun. All are welcome.
Message: Learn the skills to make a difference in the world by attending Campus Camp Wellstone. This 2-day training event (Friday to Saturday) will teach you skills in leadership, civic engagement, and political action. After this training participants will be better prepared to fight for the issues they feel deeply about. We would like to see all party affiliations represented at the training. To sign up or if you have any questions, contact Maggie at dornfeld@augsburg.edu or call 612-656-6532.

If you have money sitting in a savings account earning 1% in interest and also a lot of credit debt at 18%; pay off your credit card debt rather than save money. It makes little sense to leave money sitting in the bank earning next to nothing and paying 18% interest on credit card debt.

Lottery night is March 14th, 2006 in the East Commons, Christensen Center.

FOR ALL ORIENTATION LEADER APPLICANTS!!!
Message: Declare your freedom from your "skinny jeans" and decide to allow yourself the comfort of jeans that fit!! Look for the "Great Jeans Giveaway" boxes in the Mort lobby, the Residence Life Office in Anderson, the info desk in Christensen and the CCHP office and donate that pair of (clean) "skinny jeans" that you never wear (and that only makes you feel guilty). All donated jeans will be brought to local homeless shelters. Fighting your natural size and shape can lead to unhealthy dieting practices, poor body image and decreased self-esteem. While you can adopt a healthy lifestyle and aim to be fit for your particular body type, you cannot change your genes (and you don't need to)! The Great Jeans Giveaway is sponsored by Counseling & Health Promotion and Residence Life. Questions - call 612-330-1707.

Social Work Professors Present at National Conf.
Message: Social Work Professors Lois Bosch and Tony Bibus participated in the Annual Program Meeting of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) in Chicago, Feb. 15 to Feb. 19, 2006, and presented a poster with findings from an ongoing study conducted by Slovenian colleague Lea Bohinc and her students at the University of Ljubljana on "Working with Involuntary Clients," the first ever such study in Slovenia. Their colleague Professor Sarah Ferguson also attended the conference and presented her paper on "Post-Graduate Group Consultation for Macro Practice Social Workers." Several other professors from the Social Work Department participated in this national conference, including Christina Erickson, Annette Gerten, Rosemary Link, and Maryann Syers. Professor Link and her co-author Lynn Healy presented their book on Teaching International Content in a "meet the authors" session, and she (along with the rest of us and staff from the Center for Global Education) also participated in award ceremonies celebrating the "Partners in International Social Work Education Award 2006" given by the Commission on Global Social Work Education of the CSWE to the BSW Mexico Consortium. |
