Message: The new parking lot in the SE corner of campus at the intersection of 25th Ave. S. and Butler Pl. is open and available for use. Smaller aspects of the project (such as signs and lights) are still under construction and will be finished as soon as possible.

The new lot is called lot "L." Right now, any vehicle with a Fac/Staff, WEC/Grad, Commuter, or lot L Visitor permit may park in the lot. Message: Wa:K Our Vision, Our Voice: Photographs and Essays from the Children of San Xavier, Lindell 301

In 1996 Professor Marubbio worked on a special photo-essay project with the O'odham children of the San Xavier reservation near Tucson, AZ. The resulting collection of photo-essays became an exhibit about the ways in which the children saw and described the world around them. Their work was exhibited at two galleries in Tucson and it traveled throughout the O'odham reservation as a touring show. Elise will be showing a selection of these works and discussing the philosophy and goals behind the project.

Message: Talbots Scholarships for Women

Talbots Charitable Foundation is offering scholarships that will be awarded to 50 women nation wide in the amounts of $10,000 -$1,000. The deadline for applications is January 3, 2006 or until the first 1,000 eligible applications have been received, whichever is earlier.

Scholarship eligibility requirements:
Applicants must be women who reside in the United States
Have obtained a high school diploma or GED on or before September 1996
Be enrolled in a full-or-part time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2-4 year college, university, or vocational-technical school.
Are attending school during the 2006-2007 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2007, and have at least two semesters (24 credits or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate degree as of the beginning of the fall academic term.
* Students who have previously obtained a bachelor's degree are not eligible to apply.

We are a dozen people short of our goal, and time is nearly up. But! There's still time for you to enroll as a Thrivent member and be part of the equation.

THE $800,000 POSSIBILITY:
Thrivent Financial is offering an $800,000 challenge grant to Lutheran institutions this year as an incentive to increase participation. Augsburg receives a portion of the grant when the College engages 588 people in Thrivent's matching gift program by Thursday December 1st (tomorrow!).

On this final day of the drive, we stand at 576. But, we still have time to meet the goal.

Subject: The United Way/ Community Solutions Fund Campaign

Once again, it's that time of year when we, as a community, participate in our annual United Way/ Community Solutions Fund campaign. This year, in addition to monetary contributions, there will be several opportunities to participate with other types of gifts. If you aren't able to contribute financially, I encourage you to participate in one (or more!) of these other wonderful opportunities.

Weeks #1- 4: (November 14th through December 9th)
Book Drive
Clean off those book shelves and bring all those books you wonât read again to the information desk in Christensen Center. Books collected will be donated to various charities that support children, battered women's shelters, and state prison programs.

Weeks #2- #3: (November 21st through December 2nd)
Mitten, Hat and Scarf Tree
Bring in new and gently used winter accessories and decorate the tree by the information desk in Christen Center. All collected items will be donated to area clothes closets and homeless shelters.

Week #4: (December 5th through December 9th)
Toy Drive
Bring new, unwrapped toys and age appropriate gifts for teens to the information desk in Christensen Center. All collected items will be donated to Toys for Tots.

Project Angel Tree
If your department would be interested in combining your efforts and "adopting" children as part of the Project Angel Tree program, contact Michele Kidwell (kidwell@augsburg.edu). Project Angel Tree is an organization that collects and distributes gifts to children of incarcerated inmates in area prisons.

You can complete your enrollment form for the Untied Way and/or the Community Solutions Fund at anytime and drop in the campus mail (CB 143- attention Michele Kidwell) or drop it by Christensen Center 100C.
