We have multiple summer opportunities available for students.

URGO SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM
The URGO Summer Research Program is an 11-week, on-campus program where students are funded to conduct research with a faculty mentor. Students receive support throughout the research process from their faculty mentor, a Speaker Series, and weekly seminars with fellow researchers. URGO provides full-time summer researchers (400 hours) with a $4,000 stipend and housing discount while half-time researchers (200 hours) receive a $2,000 stipend. The program runs from May 15th - July 28th.

URGO SUMMER RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIPS
URGO also provides funding for students to work for a professor as a research assistant on an ongoing research project. This is a 100-hour commitment over the course of the summer and comes with a $1,000 stipend. This is an excellent opportunity to try out research for the first time or focus on a specific aspect of a research project.

New A-Mail System to Launch Today

Information Technology and Marketing and Communication have addressed the technical hurdle that delayed launch of the new A-Mail system last week. We expect to launch the new system this afternoon and will send an email to all A-Mail subscribers once it is available.

Once the system is available, you will be able to submit content for A-Mail by clicking the "Submit A-mail" link in the left-hand navigation at inside.augsburg.edu or by clicking the blue submit button on the upper right of the A-Mail webpage (amail.augsburg.edu).

The deadline for submitting A-mail has also changed. The new deadline for inclusion in a day's A-Mail is 11:59 p.m. the day prior to publication, rather than 10 a.m. on the day of publication. This means that posts for the January 5 edition of A-Mail can be submitted today between the system's launch and 11:59 p.m.

Please send questions or concerns to a-mail-corrections@augsburg.edu.

Augsburg Total Wellness: Biometrics Health Screen

Dear Augsburg Faculty and Staff,

Did you know that many Americans have significant health risks that they are not aware of? This includes:

-In 2014, 29.1 million people had diabetes or 9.3% of the U.S. population (almost 1/3 of them don't know they have it)
-One out of three U.S. adults - 34% has high blood pressure.
-More than one-third of adults and almost 17% of youth were obese in 2014.
-About 1 or every 6 adult Americans has high blood cholesterol.

Could you have an undiagnosed health risk? Knowing your health risks is the first step in taking charge of your health.

That's why Augsburg Total Wellness will be continuing to offer free, confidential health and wellness screenings this January! The biometrics health screening is completely voluntary. But we hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to learn more so that you can improve your health - starting now.

Screenings will include a brief health questionnaire and the following simple tests:

-Cholesterol
-Height, Weight, Wait circumference
-Glucose(blood sugar)
-Blood Pressure
-Body Mass Index (BMI)

Registration information will be sent via email soon!
