Understanding Title IX - Wednesday, September 21
Faculty, mark your calendars for this webinar from AAUP about Title IX in higher education.
Wednesday, September 21
2:00-3:30 p.m. in Lindell 301
This webinar, based on the AAUP's recent report on Title IX, will provide an introduction to Title IX generally, and specifically to its provisions regarding sexual harassment. It will explain the roles of the Office for Civil Rights and university administrations in Title IX compliance and the challenges their actions may pose to academic freedom, due process protections, and faculty governance. Finally, the webinar will cover AAUP policy and recommendations pertaining to Title IX.
Presenters: Risa Lieberwitz is AAUP general counsel and professor of labor & employment law at the School of Industrial & Labor Relations, Cornell University. Rana Jaleel is a member of the AAUP's Committee on Women in the Academic Profession and an assistant professor of gender, sexuality, & women's studies at the University of California, Davis.

Great Concert...September 20
Tuesday, September 20---
Cienaños' dinner at 6 p.m.-concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Shaped by Gustavo and Leonardo Moreno, two brothers who have made music together since their childhood, they offer a mix of jazz, funk, reggae, rap and trova, all layered in Latino roots. They are founders of "La Casa de los Cienaños", a project which supports radical self expression and multicultural dialog through art. Cienaños represents a collective voice of Hondurans making meaning and beauty amidst a struggle for human rights and civil liberties.
Learn about the struggle for land rights in Honduras from members of Cienaños and learn about Witness for Peace's local efforts to build awareness and solidarity for land rights and human rights movements in Honduras.
Donations will be accepted.

Learn the ins and outs of riding the bus and train in a safe and fun environment -- we'll cover the cost of your transportation, you cover your lunch at either Foxy Falafel or Keys Café. We'll teach you how to ride, how to pay, and how to check on the status of your bus or train.

Big Rummage Sale Near Campus Tomorrow - Friday
This Friday, September 9
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a big neighborhood rummage sale on 19th Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets. It's the brick-paved, closed street East of Freewheel Bike. Eight families will be selling their used clothing, household items and much more. Stroll over to find a great deal and also meet some neighbors!
