Hagfors Center: Reaching the Top Floor

Construction on the Norman and Evangeline Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion is now into its fifth month. We appreciate everyone's help keeping the construction area safe for workers and the campus community. You can help keep the construction area safe by ensuring that no unauthorized personnel enter the construction site at any time. Only authorized personnel--wearing hard hats and safety vests--should enter the site.

A summary of expected construction activities for this week is posted on http://www.augsburg.edu/hagforscenter/construction-project-updates . Today's post includes the following:

[1] Fourth-floor formwork
[2] Continued column construction
[3] Completion of the grade-level concrete slab
[4] Road repair on South 6th Street and 21st Avenue South
[5] Work west of Oren Gateway Center
[6] Electrical and concrete block installation in the basement
[7] Storm sewer work on the construction site

Watch Amail and posted signage for activities that may impact pedestrian or vehicle traffic on campus. To subscribe to regular emails about the Hagfors Center construction, go to http://www.augsburg.edu/hagforscenter and sign up for email updates.

URGO Academic-Year Research Grants Available

Each fall, URGO offers $1,000 research grants for students who wish to gain research experience with an Augsburg faculty member. These grants require 100 hours of research over the course of the academic year and are a great way to ease into research or to continue work on an existing project. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and can be found under the "Research: On-campus" tab on menu of the URGO web page (http://www.augsburg.edu/urgo/).

To apply, complete the electronic application with your faculty mentor and have them email it to urgo@augsburg.edu. Grants typically run out in the fall, so apply as soon as possible.
