Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Hot Water Shut Off in Melby

There will not be any hot water in Si Melby and the Ice Arena beginning the evening of Sunday, June 24, through 4 p.m. on Friday, June 29, due to maintenance repairs. Toilets and sinks will still have water and will be functional, but there will not be hot water. Kennedy will not be affected by this work, and it will have both hot and cold water in the facilities during this time period.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your patience while we do these repairs. If you have any questions, contact Terri at adamsth@augsburg.edu or call extension 1566.

Student Presentations on Egyptian Revolution TODAY

Join us in Lindell 301 from 1-4 p.m. today (Tuesday, June 26) to hear from the students recently back from three weeks in Egypt studying youth movements, social change, and sustainable development. They had a chance to spend time in Tahrir Square and can speak directly to the question of what a country in the midst of a revolution is like. We look forward to a lively discussion of civic engagement and the developing political situation in Egypt.

Farmers Market Starts Next Week, Free meals

For us, summer always means fresh vegetables and good eating. The Campus Kitchen at Augburg College works to engage the campus with the community through the work of making good food accessible to everyone. Two big things you should know about:

Free Meals for Youth: Through the USDA Summer Food Service Program, we're able to offer free hot and healthy lunches and snacks to youth 18 and under at the Brian Coyle Community Center every day all summer long. Meals will increasingly include local vegetables as they come in season. Lunches 12:30-1 p.m., snacks 4-4:30 p.m. As an example, the menu this week was beef hot dogs and fruit; egg fried rice; Somali rice with chicken and vegetables; beef and bean tacos; grilled cheese with fruit.

Farmers Market: Beginning July 3, the Farmers Markets at Brian Coyle and Augsburg will run every Tuesday through Tuesday. Hmong and Somali farmers will sell organically grown vegetables, and Campus Kitchen will sell honey, olive oils, and other healthy items. We accept WIC and FMNP vouchers and now EBT. Translation available in Somali, Amharic, and Oromo. The market runs from 11-1 p.m. at Brian Coyle and 2-5 p.m. in front of the Augsburg Foss Chapel.

Need Help? Step-Up Intern with Extra Hours

Campus Kitchen was gifted a Minneapolis Step-Up (a city program that places and pays for high school students in their first job) intern, and he's eager to do some work. Does your office have some simple tasks or projects that he can work on? I'd like to provide him with some different experiences around campus. Please let me know soon if you or you know of someone who could make good use of his time.
